Reconfigured my old, beater Pioneer X again!!  LOL

This was the configuration it was in for several years. Carried it this way along with a dedicated knife. Usually, my Spyderco Autonomy 2…

Today, it is accompanied by my Smock.

Day 21

Box duty, ordered a 84mm First Victorinox H to steal the saw out of it for an upcoming build.  Plan is to build an 84mm sak with Alox scales, blade and file layer, saw layer, scissor layer, and opener layer.  Also an awl back tool.  I may include a Spyderco Dragonfly blade, haven't decided yet.

Interesting. To do the back side awl, I assume you need the 4th pin. How will you do that with alox scales? Hidden countersunk in the scales?

Nice.  A bladeless SAK with separate knife can be a useful  combo if you think you may be going into areas where no knives are allowed.  Just leave the knofe behind but still have a basic tool.

The cap lifter and combo tool are excellent for that which helps prevent chipped nails,

Yep, exactly that!  Was thinking I will assemble with one scale on, pins already peened on the side with the scale on.  Then peen that 4th pin, then put on the other scale, then peen the other 3 pins.  Or I just make the 4th pin a blind floating pin, not sure if this would make the awl loose or not.  We'll see.

A little spa treatment for Berry.
:like: And I should get me a proper strop.

Ok, Farmer X, with the help of a few folks on Facebook, I figured it out…
They don't seem to have any with their logo currently available. Guess I'm relatively safe. Thanks for digging that up!

Were it not for the blade with a rounded tip, that one would be very high on my want list. I'd want the scales if you don't plan on using them in another project and don't mind setting them aside for a while!

Breakfast this morning. It was barely fit to eat,,,
I'd ask for thirds!

Another great day, y'awl! :2tu:

Day 21

There was a can to open today. Here is a combo tool in action.

What better tool to open a can of black olives than a black SAK? :D

There is a model called the Walker that is the same as the My First Victorinox, but has a regular blade and it was only recently discontinued, may be able to find one.  Haven't decided if I'm gonna use the blue scales, bit if I don't, I'll hold on to them for ya.

Day 22

Went ahead and took apart the Pioneer X limited edition to add a saw and make it a Farmer X with limited edition scales.  Acid Etched the tools and brass washed them as well.  Finished a Pioneer with Acid Etched tools in silver alox (still need to sharpen the blade).  Also working on a Tinker with G10 liners, micarta scales and Acid Etched and brass washed tools.

Day 22/30: Pioneer in the Garden

Used the Pioneer today in the garden while planting some trees. While the garden tools did the most work, the Pioneer was used to cut zip ties, ropes, and soil mix bags.

After the task, cleaned the Pioneer and worked a bit on the blade sharpness.
