Count me in!!! March will be the perfect time to carry a Hiker,,, at least in "The South". Temps start rising,, plants start blooming,, fish start biting,,, will be a great time to get out and "hike" some. I don't know about y'all, but I'm ready to brush off the winter and enjoy the outside!!!  :woohoo:

I have been leaning pretty heavy on 4 layer SAKs lately (Deluxe Tinker, Huntsman, and Explorer...) so slimming down a bit to the Hiker, with it's distinctive tool set will be interesting.

Same here. I've been carrying a deluxe tinker and swiss champ since I've got vest pockets to use. I'm hoping it will be a little warmer by March (who am I kidding) that it won't be vest weather as often and I can leave the heavies at home

The Hiker was the first SAK i bought after deciding I needed a little more than the trusty Waiter I'd had for years, hasn't seen much use in recent times so sounds like time to change that
I'll still be in the combo edge challenge for the first few days but I've already got that badge so shouldn't be a problem.....don't think there's a Hiker badge but you never know if we get enough peeps

Do you think "Swiss Amy Knights, Forgotten Order of the Hiker" will fit on a forum badge?  :gimme:

I own no 91mm three layer.
I just noticed it now. I have a couple of three layer Wengers, but no Vic.
Maybe that will change soon. :D

My Hiker is already in my pocket today though. Warming up, and all that.

I ordered a custom Hiker back in January just for this challenge and the order was mixed up and I was sent a camper instead. I had to send it back and it will be fixed and sent back to me but who knows how long that will take. Hopefully it will be here in time to use it at least a bit this month!

Day 1

Here is the only Hiker I have.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

So this is it, folks! This is the SAK for me for the next 30 days. It’s only 9:30 am here, so not much chance to use it yet. I’ll make another post to the thread if something comes up!

I should point out that my Hiker was generously given to me by the founding member of this challenge and the Forgotten Order of the Hiker, Farmer X.  He is both a gentleman and a scholar.  :salute:

Day 1 (again)

I used the back Phillips to snug up some screws on this cheap snow shovel.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

It didn’t snow here. I’m using it on big piles of pine needles. We get lots of those falling in the PNW during the rainy months (almost all of them).

In this case, you don’t want too much torque because the metal screws will just strip out the holes in the plastic handle.

Day 1:
My wife and sincere finally able to get out and do a little snowshoeing for the first time this winter. We were supposed to go last weekend but the weather was nasty so we rescheduled with my mom to watch the kids today instead. I'm so glad we waited. The weather was beautiful! Snapped a couple of pictures of my Hiker while we were out too. I used the saw to cut a couple of chunks of wood down to size to carve into tent pegs for a challenge I'm taking part in over on bushcraftusa. It was so good to get out in the mountains today.

March 30 Day Hiker Challenge
Day 1 of 30

Today I pocketed my white scaled Hiker and judged a BBQ contest. Didn't really find a need for it today, but I can already tell I miss having scissors.

Starting off with a glamour shot. Expect the fob to change as the challenge progresses.

For reasons detailed here, this is possibly the last challenge I'll participate in for a while.

Tried to use the backside driver to help with some screws on a prop at the high school show, but couldn't get a good angle. Still glad to be back on the SAK train.
