Great pick Kaevin, Are you replacing batteries or just curious?

JonesE

It needs an encoded IR signal. Theres no way to know unless you measure it with a sensor in the concert again. So no way to turn it in again. I was just trying to see how it works and if there's anything i can get out from it.

Day 23

My daughter demanded the small ball and its ring to be moved 2 rings down.

Putting my 2 latest multitool's piler to use. The P3s head is smaller and thinner than the one on the Leap.

Great work Kaevin!  That's one of the pluses to SOG, the pliers head.  It's just the right size and shape.  It reminds me of the OG Super Tool.

I'm waiting on the portable shed to get here today.  FedEx says between noon and 2 so we're all ready to get the package opened.

Day 26

Using the P3 to free some Starrett 2” to 6” micrometer standards from it shipping pouch. Found a good deal on a set of near mint used ones.

I have to say that I was very happy with the FedEx driver today.  He was able to bring the box to the back patio for us.  We were fairly excited to see it and I forgot to get an opening photo.  I was particularly happy that there are no tools needed to get it put together  except for an Allen wrench, which was included.  Got the top put together and now I've got to get the spot that it'll be in cleared out.
I should have the cart parked in it Monday night.

Day 26
Looks like today was the day for packages.  I used the V-cutter in the black EOD PowerLock to open a box.

Good morning everyone.
Day 2 of my shed put together.  Working on getting the location ready.  I'm guessing that a healthy guy could have it built in only a couple of hours but with my arthritis it took me that long to get the roof supports done.  I just take my time and it'll get done.

I respect you for doing that yourself PitCarver!  It took my wife, my two sons and I to put ours together, and that was a solid 6-8 hours to complete.

Here's an odd comparison, but here goes!  I have one of the original Center Drives that I have used and abused for years.  For me, it's been a go to multi tool for everything except hiking.
I have a ton of sentimental value and some experience with the Powerlock.  I recently described it as an OG Super Tool that has managed to survive for almost 30 years.  It's a rock solid, basic tool meant for hard use.  In this regard, I think both tools are the same.

Tool set wise, the two are surprisingly similar, at least in the EOD layout of this Powerlock.
That bit driver is hard to beat Center Drive wise.  With a bit kit, it makes it almost unstoppable.  That being said, SOG beat them to the punch with their adapter.  Still, the reach of the Center Drive is hard to beat.  I love the Powerlock Philips head though!

Caplifter wise, here's where we take a big turn.  That cat's paw of the Center Drive is definitely unique!  The Powerlock is good old school simplicity at its best.

Blade wise, both blades are cutters.  The oho blade of the Center Drive is handy.  The combo blade of the Powerlock is a cutter!  With the covers taken off, you can oho the Powerlock blade, but it takes some practice!

Sheath wise, I think they're equal.  The Gerber sheath is bulkier, but it contains a bit kit.

There's close to twenty years difference between the designs.  I can't pick a favorite because they each have their plusses and minuses.  The Center Drive is handy for general uses, maintenance, etc.  The bit driver is my go to.  The simplicity of the Powerlock, especially the lack of a spring in the opening of the pliers, would lead me to pick the Powerlock for any sort of field use, especially in the desert.

My first comparison post!

Barry, I can concur with your comparison but, I prefer the Centerdrive/MP600's file (when compared to the newer SOG one) as I find it cuts better. I do prefer the leather sheath as it not only looks better and havea nice fit but, the nylon one from sog can also fit a bit kit; as a matter of fact, I made a divider for mine a là Gerber using a piece of clear sodapop bottle for a custom fit!

I forgot about that divider you made Juan!  Yes, the Gerber file is levels above the new SOG one.  I love this older BO Powerlock!
Thanks for the feedback my friend!  Time is flying by.

Thanks Barry!   :hatsoff: I only wish they continued making the round tipped file, as it was well above Gerber's and, dare I say it, Rebar's et. Al. (I find the old SOG the "sweet spot" between aggresiveness and finesse; the Rebar is a beast filing!!!).
