DAY 21 Mini-challenge.   In the first pic you can see that I am as nerdy about pencils as I am about SAKs, etc.  I like the last of my American made Ticonderogas, Musgraves, and Mitsubishis.  In the second you can see that the PS4 put a point on a Musgrave 320.  After the pics, I gave it the sharpening it deserves in my German sharpener.

As I said, I'm nerdy about some things.

Day 21

Forgot to look for the little white car at the neighbor's cottage.  I wonder how Ms Phoenix gets rid of unwanted cars?  Probably drives them down to W-Mart parking lot in the middle of the night, then turns into a bat and flies home.  That would work.  She would have to have a system, right?  Victim is lured to Ms Phoenix by some means or other.  Comes in for a visit.  Lured to the chamber under the house under the pretext of listening to some old music or fetching some wine.  End of visitor.  If she didn't get rid of the cars somehow, pretty soon it would look like a parking lot.
Could just be a friend driving the white car.  Succubi have friends, don't they?  Fiend and friend are almost the same word.  Just one little letter 'r' different.  Might just stay until the moon is right for traveling and move on.
Need to walk down to the mailbox later.  I can check for the white car in her driveway then.  Might take a photo.  Best wishes.  G

Well done on the catch up, gra_farmer!  Don't worry, my Dime is rarely on my keychain.  I hang it from a snap ring in my pack most of the time.

You all are doing a great job!  A keychain tool takes a lot of creativity to find 30 days of consecutive, unique uses.  It's not that they're not handy, but that a lot of the daily use is similar.  I can go for days and use the pliers for something, until a challenge, then I can't beg for a use to come my way!

Day 21: Inspired by gra_farmer's tea pot, our own brown Betty.  Luckily for me, when its predecessor was broken, it wasn't me that broke it! :D

Day 21

Shared photo yesterday of my tool selection and sad to report no action or use occurred.

Today, re-evaluated my carry, and we’ll stay with the Sheffield, displaying its other implements.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

Cooler today, so hopefully more outside activity and only one appointment for today. 😎
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

That Sheffield almost looks like a Mini.
It is the same size as a MICRA. SMALL FINE NOSE pliers instead of scissors.

Actual pliers are just to small,  I prefer my  dedicated mini pliers for the delicate work I would have utilized them on in the day 😜

From the design, I would speculate that LM may have investigated a MICRA version with needle nose.   The MICRA tweezers may have been alternative and stay with scissors with nail file.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

That Sheffield looks pretty nice.  I thought I would check out the Sheffield tools from their website.  Home page shows three Sheffield too...... wait a minute.  That's a Victorinox classic, a Leatherman, and what I guess is a Gerber.  Why in the world would a company put the three best known multi companies' products on THEIR page?  I didn't find the tool that friend Gordon has.  Maybe I looked in the wrong spot.  Best wishes.  G

Day 21

I'm officially the "knife guy" at work now. Vendor dropped off some boxes of supplies and asked if anyone had a key to open them  ::) . I kinda looked up, but he had 3 or 4 people helping him, so I thought it was under control. A minute later one of them yelled, "Bob, where's your knife?"

Mine has been in my procession about 7 years, found at a pawn shop.

Sheffield (China) as marked appears to be firm that copies knives from other firms.  I know I have the branding a couple auto parts outlets and at Walmart.   But never this Micra styled tool.
During this challenge, I thought another Sheffield styled tool as made an appearance but is styled differently or I could just have seen things.   It happens more and more.

It looks right handy!  How's your vision after surgery Gordon?

I like the idea of keychain pliers.  I have to say that they're a bit heavier and bulkier than even the mighty Mini Champ, in my opinion.  They're great, though, when you need those pliers and you're not near anything else.  I've pulled cotter pins with the Dime, and more than one staple too.  The blade and package opener are definitely sharp enough.  The screwdrivers are great in a pinch.  I would love to mod out one, with a pair of Classic scissors.  My son, Noah, had one and his scissors worked flawlessly.  Mine have a tendency to get caught in the body of the tool.  Still, they're plenty sharp.

I thought I had a supply of some old yellow No. 2 pencils put up from years ago.  Went searching and all I could find was a drawer that had an assortment of advertising pencils.  I'm certain that everyone here knows that advertising pencils are the lowest of the low when it comes to quality.
The pencil that I've chosen is from a company that went out of business iñ 2004 after being bought out.

I'm hoping that the build quality is some better than this.  I'm pretty sure that everyone approaching my age will relate to the below...

~

My vision is much improved, the world is not as dark as before.

And, I am still ugly when looking in the mirror, so did not receive ROSE COLOR lenses 😀

Had new glasses made for near sighted use.

Far sighted, I am good as new lenses compensated for my stigmatism.

Thank you for asking.

@PitCarver - think I am in that age category!

I switched to mechanical pencils in jr high. Tired of broken pencil tips and using a sharpener.

When Pentel introduced the .5mm and .7mm
Leads I was delighted.

Used the mini screwdriver as an awl and as an actual screw driver.  Needed to hang this half model I printed out for my son.

Day 21 and the pointy stick challenge.
It's early for me, but. The. Boss lady has an appointment with her back surgeon tomorrow.
I took the old advertisement pencil and went to work on pointing it .  It's been a number of years since I had to sharpen one... since my girls graduated from high school.

Day 22
Mini-challenge

Sharpening a pencil takes a little extra time when you don't have a blade of any sort on your keychain plier tool.  I decided that anything which allowed the pencil to write a message would be sufficiently sharp.
Photo 1)  A green pencil and the Swiss+Tech.
Photo 2)  I placed the pencil in the jaws of the pliers and ground down the paint and wood with them.  Took a little while.  Then I tapered the last fraction of an inch of the pencil a little.  Still using the pliers.
Photo 3)  Wrote the message Finished on the paper holding the wood dust.  The lead only peeked through on one side.  The other is still covered with wood.  Sharp?  No.  But it would do to write.

I tried to think of the last time I bought a pencil.  Or a pen.  I'm not sure I ever bought a pencil.  Went through school by borrowing paper and writing instruments.  I bought a fancy silver Schaeffer when I got out of school.  I still have it, but haven't used it in ages.  I did buy some wire bound notebooks now and then and test Blue Books.  Remember those?  I begged, borrowed, or st... FOUND pencils and pens.  School boys throw away pencils with no erasers.  So there it is.  I never bought a pencil that I can remember, and maybe only one pen.  I still have sufficient numbers of both.  I sharpened worlds of pencils with a pocket knife.  My old Grandad said not to use pencil sharpeners.  All they did was grind up the pencils, according to him.  He was right, of course.
Best wishes.
Gary
