Greetings from the Show Me State

Hello everyone!

My multi tool history goes back to the early 2000's. I asked for a Leatherman for Christmas one year and received a BuckTool.  ???
Fast forward to today, and I have a fair collection of multi tools (mostly Leatherman) and knives (mostly Spyderco) and other cool gadgets.
Unfortunately, nobody I know appreciates them like I do.  I've been lurking here for years, I guess it is time to join the conversation. I intend to learn a lot and contribute a little.

Now, time to figure out how to post pictures...

Posting photos isn't too hard.  A little tricky the first time or two.  Make sure the file size isn't too big.  Welcome to the hive.  Best wishes.  Gary (IMR)

Well welcome aboard! You definitely found the right place to talk to, it is also very family, and a lot of posts of non-related multitools! And yeah pics can be a little tricky, but once you fig it out you’ll be like

I lot of people don't know much about multitools until they come here- there just isn't a lot of info about them at large, which is the main reason we started this site!

Stick around for a little bit and you will be a pro in no time!  There is absolutely no site on the internet that has more information about histories, variants, timelines, use cases, warranty info, or whatever else you may want to know than this one.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts!

Hi, this is kind of a re-introduction. My profile had become inactivated, so I asked to have it reactivated (Thanks, Grant).  So, now I am back on as KenD.

This leads me to a question - Do I need to login and/or make a post periodically to  keep my profile active? Sometimes I go weeks without logging in...

I don't think so, but it couldn't hurt.

I think I've gone almost two weeks without having an opportunity to log in and I didn't have any adverse effects.

Hi Ken, and welcome to the forum!

Yesterday I logged in here for the first time in 15 months, so I wouldn't assume you need to log in all that often, but I did have a fair bit of activity before my break - so that could be the difference?

Your backstory is very recognizable. On the top of my wish list for Christmas 1996 was the Leatherman SuperTool. I was a teenager at the time and don't believe I had any prior experience with multitools, and quite probably didn't know they even existed before I saw the ST in a mail order magazine sometime in 1996 and was completely mesmerized.
I was lucky, my parents got me the real deal. I loved that thing and it was on my belt most days through trade school, my first 2 years in a job and a about a half year into my military service. At that point I was gifted a LM Wave from my uncle. The Wave was a big upgrade in convenience, so the ST sadly had to take a backseat role and eventually got neglected to the point that I lost track of it.

I'm glad you made it in Ken!

I think as long as you have some posts your account should be fine.  I think maybe less than 5 and the software auto purges from time to time.

But we are always here to try and help reactivate accounts or fix whatever issues come up.   :tu:

Re-welcome aboard! Just post a couple more random thoughts and you're golden.
