I don’t believe we have seen a Christy Knife in this challenge yet.  Perhaps some of our friends have never seen one.
It's been a while since I've seen one...if ever! :like:

Work knife
And Norman Rockwell?

I didn’t count, clean, measure and label them.
That sounds like something I'd do.

I swapped out my Black Cat knife for my Douk-Douk.
Lots of good stuff in that photo! :tu:

Thank you, has been a new tradition since I have been solo.  Oldest daughter claim me for Christmas and since she lives opposite side of county not practical to drive back and forth.

Boys being first responders, usually one works every Eve day as nd other on Christmas Day.   Other daughter visits in-laws in Ohio.  Nobody fighting over dad.

I hope you and awl others that are part of MTo have a joyous holiday or get to hug their loved ones.

Dad taught me to hold on to usable hardware.  I also learned how to hammer out nails so they can be reused.  While I haven't hammered out nails since I was a kid, I keep my assortment of bolts, screws, washers, and nuts in an assortment of containers ranging from large plastic containers, to bean dip containers, old ham containers, and an odd heavy duty zip-loc bag.  I should really consider standardizing everything to maybe mayonnaise jars.

@fullbreakfast - That cake looks and sounds delicious!

@LoopCutter- That's a beautiful sunset.  Always good to spend it with family.

Day 23- catch up

Day 24

We were busy the whole day between cleaning house, going to service, and cooking up a storm.  Here's a glamour shot of my flashlights in rotation, that I never post a picture of even though I use them so much.

This was my pocket carry for today.  Going to add my stubby and Wilde pliers for Christmas day just to be safe.

May the best of your past, be the worst of your future.

Day 25

I was waiting outside of the public library one day when a nutjob came up to me and started talking.  He called my attention to the contrails of planes overhead.  "See all those Xs overhead?  That's where they are Xing us out by spraying everyone with chemicals."
Guy was 40 maybe.  Clean white shirt.  Overweight.  Well groomed.  Sort of fellow you would find managing an office somewhere.  Accountant maybe.  I felt a little like talking in a metallic monotone and informing him it was my people from the planet Dewlap doing this, but decided that wrestling with this brainless blob outside the public library would gain nothing.
He went on with some brainless blah blah blah, but by then I had turned off the storage units in my brain.  Got to keep out as much crapola as you can.  I don't know which way he went in the library, but I made sure he wasn't near me.  I'm allergic to stoopid.  It makes me giggle.
I left out a can of tuna and some Pepperidge Farms bagged stuffing for the vermin.  I might look around outside later to see if one of Santa's drones left something.  If it was anything edible, it's already gone.  I didn't buy food yestiddy, so I will cut this short and make some biscuits (scones) for breakfast.  Probably split them open and put in some scrambled egg and cheese.  Maybe a little ham.  Yummers.
Best wishes.  G

I like the color of your new rucksack.  I have been having connection problems here for a few days.  I get a signal that MTO refuses to connect, then the connection usually goes through anyway in a few seconds.  Also had to reset a circuit breaker.  It let my compooter starve for electricity and it took some head scratching to figure it out.
It is a very un-Christmas like 70F degrees here.  Might be a couple of degrees shy.  I was bombarded by a wasp yestiddy.  I will shut this down and take a walk.  I haven't checked the mail for several days.  Might be some new, interesting bills or pleas for money.  Best wishes.  G

Merry Christmas to you!

The site connection errors have been seen by me as well. A retry sometimes works, or sometimes have to back out and try the link in the notification link.

Temps warmer here as well currently 44 F in Indiana northeast.

Day 25

Merry Christmas, friends!
I'll start with the second from the top: my Condor Village Parang. I've had it exactly one year today; my wife gave it to me for Christmas last year. I've shown it here before; I think it was during the Anything Goes Challenge.

Top, just above the Parang is some kind of bolo that I was told was from World War One. It looks old enough. I'm showing it here with the Parang because it is similar in design and purpose. It is slightly longer and its spine is thicker at 0.337 inch vs. the Parang's .020 inch. So almost twice as thick. This is one heavy duty chopper!

Also pictured is another Condor: their version of the Nessmuk. Both it and the Parang are of 1075 carbon steel. The bolo is probably of similar composition.

The radio is a Kenwood TK-280, VHF. It was originally a fire department radio, but I reprogrammed it to operate on the 2M ham band (not HAM btw; it's not an acronym. Just thought I'd throw that in there.  ). Next to that is a Minimag LED. And of course, my trusty Visegrips.

Monday 29th Mini Challenge

For the last mini challenge, post a photo of a toolbox/toolbag. Preferably open, so we can see all the goodness inside. It can be as little as an edc pouch, to a full blown tool storage cabinet.

If you do not own any specific tool storage options, post a picture of your tool drawer.

Gary is this challenge's host, so it is up to him to decide if any SAKs etc in the toolbox/bag will violate the rules or not. So let's wait for him to clarify. :salute:

I think we might allow whatever is in the box or pouch to just speak for itself.  Anything goes for this one.  That way we will get a full picture of what your tool selection really looks like.  Reality, right?  Using or carrying a multi is still not allowed, but we won't quibble about a photo.  Best wishes.  Gary

Just so you know, I won't be showing a photo of any SAK or multi in my entry for friend ReamerPunch's challenge.  Just single use tools.  Caesar's wife must be held to a higher standard.
Everyone remember that we do have a mini-challenge for tomorrow (Dec 26).  Nate J has already spelled out his requirements.  No photos of multis for this one.  Just like always.  Best wishes.  G

Happy to hear that!

Here's a glamour shot of my flashlights in rotation, that I never post a picture of even though I use them so much.
Do I see a theme there? An occasional in-use photo would be neat.

I have a CCrane CCRadio 2E, which is capable of picking up the 2-meter ham band. I've never had good luck with receiving transmissions on that band (my guess is that's due to all the brick structures), but I did once pick up some guy yammering on about SD cards. I'll take a guess that you have better luck.

For the last mini challenge, post a photo of a toolbox/toolbag.
Mini-challenge accepted! The photo I originally planned for day 30 will be posted on the 29th instead.

Day 25

The Milwaukee Fastback got put to work today. I wanted to preserve the card back, so the plastic bubble was cut away.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

These Micro Machines served out 30 years in their plastic and card-stock prison. Now they are free to occasionally tear around the desktop and dining room table, though they'll spend most of their time in the desk hutch. The car on the left was held in the package by a rather obnoxious clip (the other two were easier to finally free).

Yeah I've had a lot of fun with 2M over the years. The handheld radios don't work great in my house because I live in the boonies and not very close to any repeaters, but I have a bigger radio and an outside antenna and can get into several repeaters with that. And, I can reach a few repeaters with the handheld if I'm out and about.

I like that Milwaukee utility knife. I keep meaning to post up my utility knives, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

Day 22

Here's a weird one I just got for free.  A sizing tool for a jeweler to measuring customers ring fingers.  It was in a drawer of a small table that I picked up from a store that was being demolished.  I have absolutely no clue if I will be able to use it for anything, but i think it's cool.

Day 26 Mini Challenge

Green Engineer PZ-58 pliers. For how unique the tool is, it is surprisingly useful. In addition to regular things like gripping and cutting, it can also grab things inline, like a Leatherman knurled screw. I like that feature a lot, and have used it many times for stubborn screws, tiny imperial Allen screws for which I had no driver, mangled screws on used tools, even broken screws, where the head had broken off.

Red Knipex 0821145 pliers. Just an awesome rather small pair of pliers. Comfortable, solid, good gripping.

Homemade: That thing is a Yamaha drum key square driver, which I modified into a 1/4" bit driver with added magnet and retention collar with ball bearing. It has not proven all that useful however, as it is quite heavy for edc, and a t-handle, so awkward to carry on keys or stuff in a pouch, and not that ideal for multiple screws. But it works, looks nice and I am happy with how it turned out.

Day 26

Mini-challenge day.  This one didn't get much advertising.  We will see who has been reading the posts and who has been sleeping in class.  Red and green items.  The thing I found most useful was the mini flashlight.  Especially so, after I thought a giant toad had crept out from under the floor and eaten my everyday black flashlight.  That may or may not have actually happened.  Not much proof either way.  The least useful tool was probably the cute mini pliers.  I haven't used them a time this month.  Not much plying.
I carried or used the other stuff a little.  I cleaned up the cat's paw and other red items.  Rusty and neglected.  I actually carried the Camillus stock knife a day.  I got it from my old uncle with no handles on it.  I made the red ones from a worthless flashlight he also gave me.  He never cleaned up a knife after using it or wasted a single drop of oil on anything.  Sharpened his knives by scrubbing them on a concrete step, I suppose.  Consequently, all his stuff was ruined long before its time.
I read once that in the 1940s Remington made a statement that a pocketknife had a useful life of around 6 months.  There must have been a lot more people then like my old Uncle Rob.  I did use the green pen some also.  Best wishes.  Gary
