Your table looks much better than mine. Of coarse I have a dog that likes to use it to look out the window.

This is an exceptional tool, it has already given my OHT a holiday from it's pouch a few times. The scraper/chisel tool is a nice feature, and the pliers are perfect for my needs. I must admit I have had a few LM's over the years, an original PST, an early Wave, a MUT, and a Crunch. The only one I still have is the Crunch, it lives in my toolbag, but it's still too fiddly to carry. I did like the blunt end of the MUT for light hammering, which none of my SAK's or other MT's had, but overall was too task specific for my needs, and heavy. I loved the PST not, after having SAK's, the fit and finish and operability were lacking to an extreme. The Wave was much better, but not enough to ride in a belt pouch, which is still not my favorite carry method. The Spirit surprised me with it's quality and engineering, especially the ease of use and the fact that every tool has a finished and solid feel to it. It's a good example of Vic quality overall. The only downsides I can think of so far are the missing scale tools, which is easily addressed, and having something for incidental food prep, which the 111's excel at. I have a Käsemesser in my knife block now, so I use that a lot anyway. Now I need to find a whole bunch of chores for my Spirit to do (remembering Syph's RS challenge, lol), so I can post it in the beater thread along with a more seasoned opinion.  :tu:

These are sold out at SMKW, but probably more than temporarily. The pic shows the new handle stamp configuration, but I'm still confused about the year that was done. 2010-11? 09?

http://www.smkw.com/webapp/eCommerce/products/Victorinox/Victorinox+Road+Tour+Collection+SwissTool%26%23153%3B+Spirit/V53922.html

I suppose the anthracite handles could be used as a heat source though.

The Spirit is a great tool. It's ease of use makes it an easy pick when choosing which tool to carry. The problem of the missing scale tools is an easy fix, but the lack of a diamond file will keep this tool as a runner up for me.

I got one of them. Prefer the S version myself, not a fan of the scissor design.

IMHO the scissors on a Classic are better than the ones on the Spirit. They open just as wide and are easier to use.

I don't mind the Spirt's scissors . That said , I prefer those on regular Vics .

All that said I'd like a S , I'd just put a Rambler on my keys .

That was my theory, I did have to stop carrying a Classic on my keys though. Had to stop by a court house and couldn't bring my car keys in without first removing the knife  :ahhh

Before I owned a Spirit I was told that the scissors are terrible. Now that I've owned and carried it a bit I have no problems with them. I guess you are gonna either love or hate them.

I never hated the Spirit scissors, really... I think the main problem people have with them is that they're not the usual 91mm ones, not that they're actually bad.

Yeah, this is the case for me I think.  I don't hate them, and they cut just fine.  They're just different, and feel awkward due to the way they operate.  However, they work just fine, and can slice right through paper almost without even closing them since they are sort of already closed a bit.

Used the scissors on mine a few times yesterday, they work great for me. The 91mm scissors I usually operate with my forefinger, bit the Spirit's work so much better with a thumb action. I like that they lock in place and don't twist around backward, it makes them easier to use IMO. The regular style scissors may open wider, but I don't think I can use them at all in a nearly 90 degree angle anyway. My Wiss tin snips don't open all the way either for obvious reasons. I like the longer handle design and spring setup too, it's well engineered. Loving this tool so far!  :tu:
