Nearly picked up a spirit today in the chandlers. Bit steep at 120 euros though

Finally got a Spirit RT.  :) It's much more  than I was expecting. I won't scratch this one up, but am tempted to borrow the snap pouch for my carry Spirit. I should resist as these are so expensive, and I'm not likely to find another. My Spirit collection is growing... :ahhh

Sorry for the poor quality photography, my electronics budget is always further down the list from my SAK budget. ;)

I'd go with the Spirit (regular butterblade version), which is the one I have.  However, I wanted the Spirit S, so that could have been a contender for my favorite as well.

yeah I'm sad they discontinued the S. I should have bought one when I has the chance :( I think it's the only one missing in my "collection" :)

Congrats on the 6,000 JD!  :tu:

Detron - The Spirit is a incredible multitool. Not sure is you were doubting what kind of condition the tool would come in or if you would like the actual tool (or both), but it's hard to go wrong with a Spirit.  :tu:

I Loved my Charge TTi so much that I could not imagine being this happy with another tool.

I had a SwissTool, and it is great, but the Spirit to me is so much nicer, even if you ignore the size difference.

Anyway, actually on-topic (wait, what? ), :woohoo:

:D  It'll get there soon enough I'm sure.  Here's another pretty pic, just to get it officially out of the way.  Today it opened boxes, cut coupons, opened tint cans, pried open paint cans, and tightened a couple of screws.  It also opened a can of hash earlier for dinner.  :)

Maybe premature to count me in but my Spirit arrived in the post.

Surely the evident twist isn't right.  Anybody seen this before?  Is it common?

I can send this one back but will the next one be right?  No box, just a polythene sleeve.  That right?

A disappointing start to the week.

Normal to get some misalignment, I think.  The ends of mine are about 0.8mm out.

Mine has that misalignment issue as well, but not quite as far as that.

Thanks all.  Mine is about 2mm.  It's going back and I cancelled the replacement until I think this through.  Apart from that I liked what I saw but my faith in Victorinox has been dented.

Thanks again.  Wise after the event I can see there has been previous chatter about this including your own.    Don't know what to think, some reports say 50% affected, another poster had 5 or 6 unaffected examples.  This has not been helped by Amazon fulfilling the product in a cellophane sleeve, boxless without manufacturer's instructions or warranty information.

None of my LM MTs display handle misalignment.  Even the one handle thinner Juice is not misaligned.  I expected no less of the Spirit plus a bit of polish with the finish.  Not bothered by the flat surface wobble talk but I do want my handles to align.

So until I can chose my example in a retail situation I'm out.

You gonna need to do a lot more then that to get the "shiny" of. Frankly, with use like you describe, it will take a few years. That Spirit is a tough bugger. I hammered a nail in with my Road Tour handle. Not even a tiny mark. Unless you drag it behind a car for a few miles it is dang hard to get it scuffed.

We had a thread about that a while back.

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,47468.0.html

I have two Spirits, both have a slight misalignment, but even though I've used and carried the Spirit for a few years now as it's my favorite mid sized multi, I've never noticed this until the first thread popped up. Sorry to hear it bothers some people as much but for me it was never an issue.
