I have to say, I'm a little disappointed in the SOG support.  I lost the spring on the 1/4 driver.  I asked if they'd send a couple of them (since they look to come loose pretty easily).  They sent 1.  They paid 88 cents postage plus the envelope for 1 spring.  If it disappears, I'll be calling back.  Couldn't have cost them more than a coupla pennies to toss in 2-5 of them.  ???

Kind of reminds me of what is slowly happening to Pentax.
This thread is one of the reasons why I just ordered an S31, S44, S66 and an S69. My collection didn't have anything SOG in it...they aren't sold in my neck of the woods.
A little Leatherman information.

@Mr Whippy :

I don't have the little spring, too, on my powerlock. I bought it used...
I was planing to contact SOG about that. Did you call them or did you send an e-mail ?
Did they charge you ?

Thank you.

I had notice the little retaining spring/metal peice on my 1/3" driver was a little loose one day, so I poped it off and bent it a bit so it would be on there a lot tighter :tu:

Sorry I missed this earlier.  I called them.  Very pleasant person on the phone.  No hassle about it.

Try True Value or Lowes.

Struck out at both.  Our local True Value never had anything SOG.
At Lowes I was attacked by kobolds and orcs I found only Kobolts and Gerbers.

I dont know about this. You can get all the hints from the present sog corp, but they wont be running the show pretty soon. Unfortunatly the survey pretty much gave a hint where the company is headed... China.

if you are Captain and you don't want people to jump off your ship, you don't tell them it's sinking.
so asking sog directly will not get you to the truth. read the signs and they will tell you.

Not a believer in the Birkenhead Drill? :D Personally I think SOG will go the route of having two lines of tools;an economy overseas made line, and a "prestige" domestic production line.

Remember folks, if you don't want production to go overseas then you need to buy them while they are still being made in the USA.

Ok we heard from schrade 6 years ago that some tools will be made overseas. They lied

Gerber told us that they would make some stuff oversees. They lied. Like 90%

But we are to believe sog....  I hate to say this but it needs to be said. It dont look like it by thier survey, and they wont be in charge much longer. and my belief is that they just "jumped the shark" And I for one morn this. I love my PP and Powerassist, but I cant stomach where I know in my gut they are going.

Sog can reassure customers all they want, but unfortunatly most here have seen buyout in person with thier company in thier private life, and how did that work. Usually the first to go was the boss that told everyone to Relax it wont be a bad thing. I hope I am wrong, but being in the work I am I see buyouts everyday and a company is never the same ever again. They put the big boss on a board, and overrule them every vote, and within 5 years they are gone. Look at staples. Huge company the FOUNDER was just fired by the board of directors after a buyout.

I really don't know Hawkchucker, I saw and spoke with Chris and Spencer was there too. The future of SOG looks bright and I don't think they would jepardize it or lie to us all and say it's ok. SOG may not be as big as some other companies but they quite a following and I think they did because they want the company to move forward. Spencer did it because he has a vision for his company and what he wants to accomplish and he can't do it by himself. He does not have the financial backing or what not to push SOG to the next level. I really believe they all want SOG to be the next Benchmade, Spyderco or Leatherman. Who knows what they really want but I know SOG could have kept on moving like it was before this buy out and not have had any problems. I still think we should support SOG for who they are and always push SOG to make american made products and not outsource to overseas factories. So in a nut shell, we all should not be like chicken little and run around saying the sky is falling. We all need to keep cool, trust the folks at SOG and continue to support them.

Dave i sure hope you are right. I jsut wish they would come here and put some rumours to bed. I know what you are saying sounds right, and I would never question your word, but As stated I hope I am way wrong.

Unfortunatly It usually dont work out that way. Have Chris come here. I know he would get the usual pms from some guys about getting free swag from him, but it would be great to have the man let his Loyal customers know what is up. In the cutlery industry we have reason to question it.

Or even just put something on his site! There is nothing I could find there.

They could start with getting rid of the damn combo edge and aus 8.  :P

People do that?

we all should not be like chicken little and run around saying the sky is falling.

But since we are Chicken Littles who are collectors, we run around saying "The SOG is falling,  must buy more SOGs NOW!".

That can't be all that bad for SOG, can it?

How much old stock is there?   I can't find a SOG anywhere around here (San Francisco Bay Area), except Paladin tools at Fry's.

No SOGs in the San Francisco area?  Adam and Jamie probably bought them all.  Darn those Myth Busters...  :D

Okay,  I am a little late to this thread and actually have not spent much time on here lately.  Things have been quite hectic around here.

As everyone has noticed SOG was "sold".  Well that is only part of the story.  What actually happened is we took on majority investors to help us get to the next level. Spencer is still involved in the company and actually spending more of his time designing products now.  Spencer has done a great job of growing SOG to what it is today.  However her did not have the resources or knowledge to get us where we want to be on his own.  This is where MCC Capital comes in.  They invested and brought in some skilled management personnel to make sure we get where Spencer and the rest of us here see SOG going.

Yes, there will be changes but we all feel they will be for the better.  I can't really discuss future plans but I can say that there are no plan to change the way things are done right now.  The MCC people are very skilled at what they do and they also see the history, passion and following that SOG has developed as a great benefit and do not want to do anything to harm that.

I hope this clears things up some and reassures everyone about what is going with SOG.  if you have any concerns please let me know.  I'll check back here periodically or you can email me at marketing@sogknives.com.

Thanks
Chris
