Today at the flea market I was lucky and found these 10 rarities. One of them is a Wenger. Are there SAK experts here who know which one it is?

Interesting haul there, Sneider!  :like: :like: Can’t say I can tell which one is a Wenger, but I’ll be interested in learning what they all are!

My birthday score. My mum gave me the black Pioneer, bless her 83 year old heart. The blue and green Farmer X knives were gifts to myself from SMKW.

I’m blow away by the blue alox. This is my only firsthand experience with this color, and it is indescribably vibrant and beautiful. I don’t think there’s much chance of this knife staying in the box. It could easily become by EDC during the warmer months.

You may also notice the distinct lack of logos on the back scales. No logos on the blades either. I don’t know how SMKW managed this on the Farmer X’s, but I am eternally grateful. I have this thing about unnecessary branding, and also of ugly logos. I would honestly own far more alox if it weren’t for the store branding.  The Victorinox logo on the front scale and the blade stamp on the main blade are acceptable, but that’s about my limit on a single knife. To find colored alox without any store branding is akin to finding a unicorn these days.

I believe it's the one with the Geneve graphic. If I'm correct, then it's most likely a Watch Case Opener or a Patriot that never got a key ring or had it removed. Whatever it is, I :like: it!

I don't object to a retailer's logo, but I do feel that Victorinox would do well to modify or rescind their policy on colored Alox having the logos. They'd sell far more of them that way.

Some first-rate pick-ups, y'awl! :tu:

I don't know which is the Wenger, either. It's either the silver Alox (Eloxy?) with maroon lettering or one of the ones with fancy scales.

This shape is quite rare at Wenger/Victorinox. The brown one is Wenger Tahara, the red one is Victorinox

Thank you guys.
The longer the more I'm happy about such rarely coveted rarities. But the real stars of this haul are of course the three 84mm with scissors. It's really a shame that Victorinox doesn't make them anymore.

:iagree: The last 84mm with scissors that I watched on eBay (a used Climber Small) sold for over $125 US. Clearly the demand is there.

You did exceedingly well at the flea market...wish I could tag along with you! :tu:

It's really crazy how the prices of discontinued SAKs are going up. Even with recently discontinued models. :o
Thanks, like I said, I was lucky. Often a empty photo would show what I found at the flea market. takes a lot of time...

The Picknicker

I mostly bought it mostly as part of my Macgyver collection. But also because I was curious about the 111mm SAKs.

The overall frame size is great. I also really like the nylon scales. The blade size though… can anyone who regularly carries a 111mm tell me about the benefits you get from a blade this size?

I’m not implying that there aren’t any benefits… Just that I’m not sure I can immediately see what they are. Personally, I can’t say I have ever looked at a 91mm SAK blade and thought that it wasn’t long enough…

It’s a cool SAK though!

Congrats on your Picknicer Marlowe
I like the 111 blades a lot, and the advantage for me is undoubtedly food prep, much easier with a 111 than a 91 or 93

Food prep makes sense! It's not something I use a SAK for much. But a bigger knife definitely makes sense when it comes to food.

Just ordered myself a LE (200 pieces) red alox Lumberjack for what seems like a very reasonable price, particularly with the Walker being discontinued. I’ve not bought from them before but they get good reviews on Trustpilot so sounds alright

If anyone’s interested here’s the link, the password is Victorinox123

I just received a used S-14. First impressions are good after cleaning and oiling. Not sure I am a fan of how the outer liners stick out below the springs and inner liner, but it may grow on me. Had a fun time reading about “The Urantia Book” as it was the first things to come up on searching the name.

Picked a couple of new (to me) knifes today.

One is a rather nice 108mm Solo, you can never have to many 108s, and to be honest it looks like it has never been carried.

The other is a Gardner.  Ok its a bit battered and bruised and the blade has enough chips out the edge you could almost use it as a saw.  The scales are showing wear, but the shield is still clear.  In short this has been a well used tool and if it was not for the chips out the blade (including a missing point) I would say well looked after.  But it is the first one I have seen local and I do not have a 100mm model in my collection.

On the upside their is no keyring and the liners are brass, so I am guessing its an earlier model.  She is not completely trashed, just enough dings to prove she has had a working life.   So I am thinking a little light oil and she is a nice addition to my "growing" collection (sorry I will grab my coat on the way out ).

As a matter of interest does anyone know when the Gardner was first produced?
