Not mine. I am waiting on shipping instructions. After a little filework to be able to get all the tools open. Oops couldn't stop. After a little Dawn, Flitz, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 grit sandpaper and Novus #2, a 8.5 -9 in my book. It came as a 5.

This Wenger arrived yesterday.  The scales are marked Eddie Bauer, and the blade is marked BACKPACKER .  Despite the blade markings, It seems to be a Traveler, but with a locking blade.  That should make it an Adventurer, but that model has a small blade rather than the nail file.  ???  Any ideas what this is exactly?

My info is that the Traveler with lock and small file is the Adventurer (#16836 / #1.14.53). The version with a lock and small clip blade is the Teton (#16984). The Adventurer was also sold as the Securite 14 in Europe, and as the Adventure with Packlock in Canada. At one point the Teton was sold with a phillips instead of the corkscrew, but the exact same number (#16984). There is also a serrated version of THAT Teton (#16484). The Teton versions with phillips apparently don't have the lock.

Thanks for the ID.  To make it a bit more confusing, I suppose you could also call it an Evo S14 with classic scales....

I'll just add that the blade is marked "Backpacker" because originally this was a series of knives.  Can't confirm or refute the other great information in ColoSwiss's post.  If that's not what the wiki says, then an update might be in order; I try to remember to review later.

:D  Actually today it was one Wenger (Tradesman), one slipjoint (Buck 301), and my MP450 in my bag.  Very good though, Al!

Just checked SAKwiki and it looks pretty correct. Maybe could use a cross-reference between Traveler (Adventurer) and Teton. I was going by various old catalogs and other data in my notebooks (and getting sucked deeper and deeper into the morass).

My new Compact arrived in the mail today.  :mail:

Nice and shiny and black, to match my iPhone and my Preon.

I immediately put a pull-lanyard on it and stuck it in my Skinth SP.

Had to get a new one, since I've got my previous one down on my workbench in the garage waiting to be torn apart to build a Yeoman out of.

Up until today my only SAK was a Rambler which a good little tool, but I've been wanting to get my hands on a larger set a Vic scissors to see why everyone seems to feel that they are tops in their class.

While driving down a road that I've been on many many times, I noticed a second hand shop that I had never noticed before.  They had a display case filled with a lot of junk knives and MT's, but mixed in were a few quality items.  There was a thick looking Vic with a price of $30.  I asked they guy to see it and as he handed it to me he said that he would drop the price to $20.  It had a set of scissors, was a little grimy and scratched, but it was in pretty good shape.  Turns out it is a Champion Plus.

I'll put the scissors to use and see if I fall in love with them also.
