I need to get a lighter that holds the fluid longer! like stated, zippo's work nice but I also hate
having to refill so often and I'm not keen on the spare tank idea.
judge others by how they treat those they are allowed to mistreat

You might want to try an Imco Triplex from Countycomm.  They're very inexpensive and well built, and they also seal against the tank better than a Zippo, so there's less evaporation.

I always laughed at the original Star Trek.  They had a "racially and ethnically balanced" crew, and yet all of the aliens they encountered were based on the various ethnicities of Earth in the 1960's.

The Klingons were the Russians- powerful, harsh, unpredictable.  The biggest threat, held in check by a grudging, paper thin handshake agreement and mutual terror over what could happen if someone opened fire.

The Vulcans were the Japanese- logical, emotionless and industrious, with an intellectual culture that included many temples, gods and robes.

The Romulans were the friendly Japane... uh I mean Vulcan's distantly related, warlike cousins who were irrational and would attack just about anything given the chance.  Which, coincidentally enough was how most folks viewed the Chinese at the time.

The Andorians were loose cannons who appeared and disappeared as they wanted, were up to just about any job if the price was right, but were just as likely to kill you as anyone else, which was exactly how the Middle East was viewed at the time.

It was also amusing that while there were no Canadians on any of the Enterprises (or Voyager, or DS9!) that the rugged, All American Iowa farmboy captian was Canadian, as was the Scottish engineer! :P

And, as if that wasn't funny enough, James Doohan, aka Scotty used to hide the fact that he was missing a finger on his right hand.  Frankly I can't help but think that a four fingered hand would have helped his image as a no olds barred, old school ship's engineer!

Not quite as funny as when they first launched the Next Generation Enterprise and the pilot was a blind guy.  I suppose it made sense to transfer him to engineering so someone else could steer...

Man, I love ST - TNG. I started collecting the season DVDs but suddenly felt foolish for doing so and stopped. Now I collect more expensive things I really, really don't need. But want.  :D

I'm almost got around reading all 14 pages of this topic. But it looks like I can't find an answer for something I would like some help with.

Yes, I am a smoker. In Holland it is still oke. Although there are plans by our goverment to turn us smokers into the new enemies of the state! Anyhow, in the mean time I'm in search for a reasonable priced windproof lighter. I do have a zippo but in the wind the flame is going every where. So not the lighter for me. Besides that, it is heavy and uses more fuel than an airoplain.
I guess I'm looking for one of those jetlighters but only find cheap, work for one week (or less) things. Any suggestions on that? Or anything else that might work for this still rebel smoker?

Hey zepla, you might consider a rechargable electric lighter.

Worthless for anything but lighting cigarettes, but very good at that one function.  Unaffected by wind.

I've looked at lighters from a company called Windmill. Never heard of it myself but the webside looks promising. At least, that's what I thought, after some asking around they are not much better then those very cheap jet lighters, and to make it even worse they are not cheap at all!

So I just keep looking. Internet, you've got to love it  :D

I brought these to the meet last week for Ben to take a peak at, but couldn't find them at the time.  Turns out they were at the bottom of my Wilkinson carrier under some chocolate wrappers, ho hum

(yes you can click if you want a bigger pic)

As with so many of by bits and bobs these were sourced from a local car boot.

Neil

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.
