  I told myself I wasn't going to buy one...one of my favorites....lost it in the fire....let it go...didn't need it....couldn't afford it....

It's on the frickin' way and it's used so I won't be afraid of messing it up.  8)

Forgive my ignorance... really cool knife... but if it's puukko, wasn't it supposed to have a scandi grind?

Why did you wait so long?!

They were all too high ($250-$500). This well loved one was less ($129) and looked decent enough so I moved money over and bought it.   They are really remarkable in the hand, ground very thin....great slicers. But having said all that, it was probably just another attempt to salvage something from my past.  ;)

Good looking knife.  Fond memories/experiences from our past should not be left there. If we are able to salvage them then by all means go for it,  glad you did.

Aw,  you're welcome    :D

Well,it arrived this morning! Great service from Heinnies

Ok,I really get it Steve,it feels awesome in the hand! Ergonomics are spot on. FRN scales? Hard to believe, they feel very natural, very tacticile. Smooth, comfortable action...

Ok,I'm ready for the hate...why would anyone buy a Spyderco when they could have a RAT?*

I have to agree with you on this John. I still prefer a slippy, but as lockers go I would much rather have one of these than a Spydie from my limited exposure to both

I've been feeling the urge to find something new. The Surge Challenege made me realize how often I don't feel the need to carry something new.

But there's so many options out there I just don't know!

So I ordered one of these (Image removed from quote.)
For 17 USD I'm stoked! Reviews aren't bad at all and it'll pair perfectly with non outside tool based pliers.
It FINALLY left Kentucky! Should be here Saturday.

I am waiting (patiently) for an unique Opinel that I won here on MTO from Smashie on his GAW!   :tu:

This will be my first Opinel that I actually get to play with so I can't wait to check it out!  :)

A mix of stuff, five out of the six seems to be crap but the one hidden in the back seems to be genuine. Not that I can even tell the number of layers from sellers picture. bad resolution + hiding the good stuff in the back = good price (or possibly that he's scamming me, we shall se)

That "winner" in the back looks a lot like a Victorinox Ranger (4-5 layers + Camping scale= Ranger on Google!). Good find. That white one could be something interesting, between the bail and exposed rivets.

Lot of new multitools on the way:

RECEIVED
Select Fire - really beefy
Wingman - not bad so far, bites the butt of the hand a bit when using pliers on one side, love the spring pliers
X-Tract Fin - stiff operation at first, but like it more than the original X-Tract because of scissors

ON THE WAY
BlizeTec Multitool - probably just cheap, but worth a try
Powerduo Black Oxide - may also be too big for pocket carry, haven't had many SOGs
Wave Black Oxide - can't ever have enough black oxide tools
Swiss Tech Micro Plus - looks interesting
Style PS - wasn't crazy about Style CS, but completing the set, and doesn't have the dang one-side beveled blade (can't remember what that's called)
X-Tract Essential - carried with a pliers it may be a worthy opponent to a Crater
X-Tract LED - rather have a dedicated flashlight, but worth a try

Forgot to mention the Spyderench.  I got it this week, and it's not as nice as the Byrd Wrench.  Seems not as well made - the blade doesn't pivot freely, and the tools are harder to deploy.

Sure enough, it's a ranger. The former owner seems to have abused it a bit (spots of rust, dents in edge, full of hay) but it doesn't seem to have been sharpened, ever. That at least means there's margin for fixing the edge. I think it will work out nice after some loving care.

As for the white one, only says "made in Germany" but I kinda doubt even that, finish and QC is basically non-existent.

I've got 2 bags on the way! They were the same seller and I had asked him about cutting the shipping in half if I bought both. I don't even like messenger bags but I COULD NOT pass on the price. I guess I got lucky and and saw them before everyone else could.

Not to mention the North Face Surge is by far the best backpack I have ever owned. Extremely comfortable. This will be my 2nd. I plan on finding a blue one for a 3rd.

Received a few of these.  Here are first impressions:

BlizeTec Multitool - you get what you pay for, and I didn't pay much - tools are not very well milled and blade lockup is iffy
Powerduo Black Oxide - not as well made as I expected and blade arrived pretty dull - all tools not very well milled, light weight though
Wave Black Oxide - as expected, quality Wave with black oxide - blade reasonably sharp and oxide comes off on fingers a bit, ordered pocket clip as soon as realized I forgot to
