Here is another take on the easy open alox mod. This used to be a very well worn pioneer apprentice, but I reconfigured it into a 2 layer with only one tool in each layer.

The idea is the main blade is an easy open pinch blade, but the electrician blade is also available by standard nail nick.

I made custom springs for both layers and the electrician blade one I ground down to the same thickness as the electrician blade so no spacers were needed, and finished it off with a polished brass liner.   :tu:

Ya thats on the steep side, but the alox craze is in full swing too... I'll have to watch that and see if it sells for that price.

Another Urban Ti-oneer today.  The only different on this one is I tumbled the scales in rocks for a bit more distressed look, and added a clip.

Superb, as usual Robert. You carbidize the contact point on the ti-scales, right?

Yup always where Ti and steel rub.  That tumbled finish would let it slide for awhile but once it wore down the tools would stick and lose all snap.

Those tumbled Ti scales may be your best ones so far IMHO.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

They look nice, but I think the prettiest are the black ones from January this year .
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I got an orange cerakote custom back in for an upgrade and it was very interesting to see how it has held up.  I put this one together near the end of last year and the owner said it has been used hard and often.

The BO on the tools was fine, but seems to have come of the backsprings most.  The alox liners I made held up quite well.  I was most happy with the orange cerakote though. It held up very well.  Id for sure rate this above standard anodizing for quality and longevity, and Im really happy to have a well used custom to see in person.

Ive actually got another 10 sets of orange coming in from Jeff next week and... a brand new cerakote color for a new custom theme that Ive been keeping secret... :D

My scales arrived! :D

The safety orange is still one of my favorites with BO tools, but I had to run a new color this time to try.  Its called Corvette yellow.  I figure I can pair that with some black tools and liners and call it the hornet.. or killer bee.. yellow jacket?  Well you get the idea.  :D

Now to just keep waiting patiently for my BO parts to be ready...

Loving the orange, especially on a Farmer- survival orange on a bushcrafty SAK, with a braided lanyard.

Ya I wanted to try something different this time.  I was browsing the unique colors on the cerakote site and thought the yellow was worth a try.

http://www.cerakoteguncoatings.com/finishes/

Jeff said the brighter the color the more a pain in the ass it is to work with, so Im happy he was willing to tackle the yellow.  The first one Im doing with that color is just standard stainless tools with the yellow scales and black liners.

The zombie green was tempting but when I googled for pics of pieces done in that color they didnt look that great to me, but its hard to tell not seeing in person.
