Now this... this I like! Solid copper cross, but I skipped the texture on that part and machined it perfectly even with the top of the texture.  This one is a winner and I will offer this and brass variant as standard scales.  :D

Looks like you nailed it Syph.

Im quite happy for sure.  I'll do a brass one next for comparison.

And now that Ive got this machine... Im thinking why not cut tweezers and toothpicks from Ti as well.  I dont see a problem cutting one piece Ti tweezers.  Too many things to try   :ahhh

Wow that's freaking nice :tu: I bet even without the brass that will be NICE! Solid Ti with the back hollowed out with the cross just carved like that in the Ti, and the edging done, sweat!

Machining the steel post hardening is good for beginers, while anealed you may end up taking too much material due to how easy it is to machine it. Plus you reduce the chance of warping.

What software are you using for CAM? Could it be (and understand my verylittlediminutivealmostinexistant expirience) the different radiae of the ball end mill? From what I can imagine, the what may be happening is it machines the first path closer to the base (understand this as the flat part of the scale, the inside facing the tools). Next, as it goes up it also has to go in (in the longitudinal direction of the scales) but by doing so and considering it is using the lager diameter of the ball the smller diameters under it will start to machine a concave shape. Sorry if I sound too confusing I just wrote as I thought.

Some more prototypes.  I wont be able to anodize the ones with copper crosses, so Im making some solid Ti ones with cross for that purpose.  I promised my wife a purple one.

Wow, who would have thought that from your original anodized Alox scales you would end up doing full on custom Ti scales. You are in a league of your own as far as I'm concerned when it comes to SAK modding

Oh man!

Will there be an upgrade option for those who have purchased from you previously to switch plain TI scales with these?

There are so many things to try!  This is a stonewashed Ti scale, then I used an engraving bit to add the dragon scale texture.  :D

That looks great! The fidget factor will be lovely with the level Swiss Cross against the checked scale.

Can we sign up for a subscription service? We pay an annual fee and each month you send us a new set of custom scales?

:D  Well this is why Im prototyping a bunch of scales now to decide on what will be the go ahead ones to offer.  Im not taking any orders for the new stuff yet, but it wont be more than a week or so until I have samples built of all the types.

Prototype one is together now and OMG Im so pleased!  Is that an old cross alox model... nope its a brand new super tinker dressed in titanium milled scales... (still needs tweezer on back scale though).  Starting with this model I am dating and numbering each built on the inside so they can be identified later on as to who built it, when and what number.  So this one will be 001  (first build with the Tormach machined scales.)  Or should I continue numbering from before I think I was in the 600s.  Or maybe start with a prefix like T001.

Here is one neat thing I noticed.  The snap has a really cool sound now.  I guess because the inside of the scales are pocketed out.  The tumbled Ti sounded different.  Solid in both but there is a distinct acoustical nuance to the pocketed that I just love.  I will do a video when Ive got a bunch to show off.

Dragon scales engraved and then the whole scale anodized blue, but then I sanded the top to just leave the engraving blue... Im really liking this one.

And yes Im going nuts with the options and trying everything I can think of.
