Amici,
Mine was bestowed on me back in 1985 from a friend by combining the first 5 letters my name with the movie title "The Beastmaster" since at that point in time, I worked in an animal park where I was tasked with the care and supervision of several exotic animals.. since then then name kinda stuck..

Cheers,
Serge

Nobody ever called me microbe IRL. I has got no reference whatsoever to my person. I just picked it as an online alias one time, and kept with it.

Smashie came from when I was a teenager (before Harry Enfield if any other Brits chip in). I went through a phase of breaking things, mainly me to be honest. So the name stuck

Palladium is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pd and an atomic number of 46. It is a rare and lustrous silvery-white metal. I'm silvery-white.
And most importantly, it is not a name that is already taken.

No prizes for guessing where my name came from.

I would have said it was my favourite SAK - It was ceratinly was the one I carried for 25+ years. It has a great set of tools, yet still very pocketable.

However last year I discovered all the other lovely Vics out there ... plus .... MTo, Wengers and Soldiers. Now I have quite a few favourites and an expanding collection - ;)  :climber:

My one surprise was that the 'Huntsman' name was not taken already - given it's such a popular SAK.

Love this thread BTW - Some very interesting/clever/funny/++ names out there and some fascinating stories behind the names, which also reveal a little about us folk on this forum -   :o

Thanks guys   :tu:

First you need to know I'm a manga/anime fan.
11 years ago when I started with this obsession and couldn't stop watching dragonball z on TV, I also started reading fan fictions. Then I wanted my own go and wrote a story. But to post it, I needed an account on the fan page. I tried different nicknames containing the names of the female heroes, but all I tried was not available anymore. Then I came up with a VERY innovative name: SSJSweety (SSJ stands for Super Sayajin). Over the time I let the SSJ slip away and put a -sama at the end. That's a  Japanese form of address to a superior being (mostly gods).
I have three first names and one is a Swedish name. It comes from rune stones and is the name of the viking goddess of the godlike. So I thought Sweety-Sama would suit fine for me! :D

Makes a lot of sense, right? ^_^

i used to draw a weird little character with no face, only eyes when i was younger and not paying attention in class, whom i named 'pica agonistes' after the unit of measurement, and the literary term, from the greek, for 'the struggles of' as in 'samson agonistes' by milton.  after awhile, the eyes went away too and it is now a weird little character with no face at all.  female, but doesn't look it--much like myself.  heh.

i dropped the 'pica' after awhile, since i learned it was also the name of a medical condition that didn't really fit (it's where one craves to eat things that aren't food, like shampoo or dirt or drywall), and when i got in the habit of drawing bunnies, a friend of mine labled it 'agnbuny' and so it was.  'agonistes' had already become a screen name for me waaaaaaaay back when i used aol, and now it's just the go-to i try first on any new forum or thing i need to register for.  it's not usually available, i figure because todd mcfarlane did some toy sculpture series and 'agonistes' was the name of one of the creatures, so i guess it filtered out into comic book land....
