Well yeah, but it's not "THE" Swiss Champ is it?!

Also, I would never beat mine up... one of the few things around here you could actually call a shelf queen ::)

Good first point, but that second thing...   Never even carried it just once?

I forgot to mention my Swisschamp also has the original pliers, pretty neat.  They're narrower than the current ones, and there's no texture inside the jaws.  The last part is a bit strange actually.....
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

The Swisschamp was my second SAK after the Explorer, and quite possibly the one responsible for the other 68 I know have...pah!!, small fry with you guys I know. But the almost jewel like quality of the swisschamp is just sooooo addictive and once you have it you simply want more, hence the Cybertools, XLT. XAVT, XXLT........Dear God, I have spent a small fortune and all because of the Swisschamp.

So my advice is ................Stay Away!! lol
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

I was sold when I got my hands on a Swisstool at my local outdoorshop and I opened and closed the pliers ...

Just love the sound of folding those pliers back in ...  :dd:

There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Lovely pictures!

How durable is the rosewood btw? Does anyone carry one or is it a shelf queen mostly?

Promise, never carried the XAVT even once.... I don't have a pouch for it :D

Love the horn ones too - very classy beasts :tu:
As for Rosewood, a lot of guitar fretboards are made from it, and they get a lot of abuse so it's obviously deemed hardy enough for that :)

The XXLT is really for collectors only:

But the XLT is actually EDC-able I guess:

Armeé Suisse, that is the Miss Universe of Swisschamps, hands down.
Reiner, don't guess, XLT is perfect for EDC. I still feel more comfortable when I handle my original Swisschamp (my palm and a Swisschamp are accustomed to each other) but the XLT is highly usable. A few tools have a minor clearance problem near their base occasionally but it fulfills most needs with ease. I can't imagine somebody using the XAVT to screw something one handed though. But it is an eye candy, perfect for a glass screen in the living room, with all the tools extended and surrounded by closed specimens of the remaining collection.

I keep wanting to make a lockable Lucite case for mine to put on my desk.  I love it's barometer function!

First, thanks everyone!

To answer this question:

There are two Rosewoods in my photos. One is an older model (the one with T&T) and the other new/current. The scales are slightly different on them in terms of hardness, texture and even smell - yes, typical of some Rosweoods they came with a strong odor. The wood on new one appears to be very hard, the wood on the older one appears to be softer. Both are very nicely mounted flush on extra thickness exterior liners. I imagine they would do very well as EDC.

From these I did EDC several years the black Cellidor one (bought it new in 94 or 96, do not remember exactly) and it's still in very good condition, so if that stoud out as well I do not see why a wood scaled one wouldn't.

My personal favorites are the Staghorns.

Sincerely, I do not know. The scales on the two that I got are slightly different. Both smelled when I got them (still smell). Strong odor that I understood is typical for some Rosewoods. Both are beautiful, dense wood. Strangely one appears to be soft, not the expected hard wood.
