Surge EDC Saws? Your Preferences? (Pic Heavy)
on: December 27, 2013, 12:36:28 AM
So I got my new Surge for Xmas. Sweet! I plan on carrying it loaded with the file, and the wood saw in the sheath. Went shopping for some t-shank metal blades today and came home with the following. I could have chosen 12, 21 or 30 TPI. True to Multi-Style, I went with the middle-of-the-road 21 TPI and a RemGrit style blade, the latter I probably won't EDC in the sheath. The blades fit well and the new retention system does hold them better, despite the different thicknesses.

Being able to cut metal in a pinch is a very attractive option for me. So what do you all carry for Surge blades? Any good metal cutting stories out there?

That is pretty much the only reason why I'd like to have a Surge. Simply gives more options for those pinch situations

The biggest thing for me with Surge is that all the "wear and tear" parts are replacable/servicable so you can really use it without babying it.
Replacable cutters, replacable saw blades, replacable file, and the blades can be sharpened with it's own file :-)

I bought this set of saws from Lidl for 5.90€, to replace my Chinese blades (these Parksides are Swissmade and have a better quality)
Since I have the older Surge I hade to find a way to fit them nicely. See the little shiny metal wire in the seath?

It's a wedge, improvised from a trivial staple.

The blade stays firm in place now.

I keep six blades in the seath, plus the original saw.
