I made this for my former apprentice and friend. He is 32 years my junior, but we get along very well. He has talked me into going to a concert with him, and he is buying the tickets. This is how I am paying him back.

I asked him what he thought would make a near perfect MT for an electrician. I used his comments as a guide, but also included a couple of things that I knew would be useful. Personally, I would replace the serrated blade/flat head screwdriver with the driver from a Center Drive, but I neither had one nor wanted to buy one in order to rob the driver.

He thinks it looks great, but I don't think he suspects I am giving it to him  :D

We are going to see Greta Van Fleet. My young friend is a big 70s classic rock fan (as am I), and Greta Van Fleet is a band that became know while he was in high school and is very much influenced by classic rock.

I have reminded him several times that my party days are well in the past. I'll have a beer every once in awhile, but that is as wild as I get. I'll have a tough enough time staying awake for the whole concert. 9 - 9:30 is when I typically go to bed.

The band will be in our area in October, so it will be some months before it happens.

I made a few changes. I was able to buy a Center Drive cheap enough to strip for parts, so I took the bit driver and the prybar and put them in the Surge.

That is not a hacked Leatherman, that is an entirely reinvented Leatherman Surge.  :salute:

For the black blade and saw, did you acid etch the stainless ones or you bought the black version? The blacks are so consistent with the rest of the BO tools. Looks just like it came from the factory.  :tu:

I used stainless steel blackener for the finish. The Surge was already BO, but much of the finish had worn off. So, I used the blackener on the handles, plier head, and all of the tools. That is why the finish looks fairly consistent.

Thanks buddy. U did a great job there. I have to look into the stainless steel blackener stuff.

Its been a while since I posted here. Might open a new thread in the Mod Squad for my recent Charge mods... I have been busy with Micarta and G10 scales lately.  :P

Frames are all cut from Wave handles. I got lucky with the pocket clip that I have on hand.
