Spartan tools used for my latest build in a vintage style.
0,5mm brass liners, 2mm nickel silver bolsters and smoked Oak burl. Nickel silver pins in front and back, brass in the center. Acid washed tools that are steel wool polished

Got the itch to do a two blade SAK mod and need some help naming it. Any thoughts?
Since a Jack-knife have two blades in the front, why not "Jack of all trades" ?

Well I’d say you hit the nail on the head, cause at a quick glance I’d say it looks like a vintage 3blade, it almost even looks like a canoe, it just doesn’t have the curve up at the ends, but other then that like I said if you didn’t know your sak tools someone would totally guess it’s something else and say it’s a vintage pocket knife! :tu:

Wow, that turned out beautiful in so many ways. You completely captured the vintage look like it would have come from the factory in the late 1800s.

Made another odd ball last night. This one I decided to try after watching Cody (fit to survive, f2s customs) make a few on his YouTube channel. It’s a “Roadinox” with 2 & 1/8” Bohler N690 blade (cheap on eBay used), new package opener,  large bottle opener off of a beat up 93 mm alox, grooved corkscrew, and hook with nail file. The short blade also leaves some space and with a few magnets you can even make it into a rock solid Leatherman bit driver. Anyway, Frankensteins come in all shapes and sizes.

I really like the Spydy blade. It's eye-catching!

And a bit driver is always a plus!

Not sure what to call this one but it's the first mod I've done in a few years and I'm happy with the tool to width ratio. Also it's the first EDC I've had in a long time without a lanyard. We'll see......

I like the tool selection. The inline awl is reminisce of the 1890. Nice!

Swapped a can opener for a pruner and added the SAK Spares pivots. The thing I didn't account for is that both the bottle opener and the pruner want to be "in-front" and bump into each other a little bit...

Any ideas on how to stop this happening? Was thinking of shimming one or the other (or both I guess) but kind of ran out of steam a little so will put this one in the "good enough" pile for now.

Love the pruning blade! Nice mod!

Yeah, the screw driver and the can opener in my Climber are each beveled allowing them to rest beside each other.

No openers or screwdrivers at awl, very brave! :o
Looks dead handy for anything that needs to be drilled, cut, sawed or snipped, I like it! Very focused.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

I’ve enjoyed much time assembling and disassembling many SAK parts trying to get to the ultimate edc (for me). While a couple have made it to the ‘this is definitely a model Vic should be making’ pile they are mostly 5 layers plus….ie a bit large for general urban edc. So being as the Ranger is one of my favourite Vic models I thought I’d try something around that and I think I could be on to something. 4 layers but thinner than a huntsman, full loaded set of back spring tools and plus scales makes for a pretty dense package.

Could have saved a layer by using a combo tool of course but I prefer the full openers layer and small blade more. Small blade and awl take care of many of the scissor jobs….

Kind of a 91mm locksmith! See what you think.

You could get a pruner blade from a model where it kinks the other way like on the Pioneer Rancher.
Or use a vise and grips or a hammer and bend it over. I have done that before.
Only bend one way, bending it back can break it.

Nice functional build, and I like the black scales  :tu:

It is interesting to see how many functions you can get in as small a package as possible I think I remember getting around 18 or so in two layer before :0)

Haven’t used black scales often but decided on a nice new set of plus scales for this build and really like them.

Hammered it in the end, worked a treat - just waiting on some washers now as I didn't realise there should be a spacer in there as well  ::)

I replaced the blade in this project with an Elmax and made a new spring specifically for the new blade, yes this spring is not fully machined yet, but I needed to test a couple frictions.  :climber:

Also a prototype 84mm spring has been made, maybe someone has already made a similar one, but would anyone be interested in such a spring?
