For quite a while now I have come to the realisation that for the vast majority of us, the humble swiss army knife blade will perform as equally well, if not better, than any supersteel blade, but at a fraction of the price. Add onto that that its legal pretty much anywhere, non-threatening, stainless steel, perfectly engineered fit and finish, and easy as hell to sharpen; and why choose anything else unless you have money to burn?
Given the above, I carry a modded pioneer as my only blade, and only have victorinox knives in my kitchen.

So it seems unnescessary, but:
