Day 2

Prepping some trim to be primed and painted. I needed a small piece of sandpaper to get into a tight corner. Scissors worked very well !

Great day, you guys are off to a good start. Well, as promised, I'm starting a day late. Managed to take a break from the new pup long enough for a hood scrubbing on the Surge and a day 1 photo.

Thank you, W!

Glad to be here and thank you, everyone who was cool with me starting late. :ahhh

My thoughts on the Surge from previous experience and initial feelings about the challenge:

First thing I noted was that I had been assuming the Center-Drive was a bit heavy for a month. And the Surge has a cool 2+oz on the CD.  :ahhh
But, that said, the tool selection is fantastic on the Surge and I still firmly believe it is the strongest multitool made by the big companies, and maybe by any company. Not to mention it has a well thought out set of tools. Best in class OHO scissors, two excellent 420HC OHO knife blades, OHO blade exchanger(saw and file standard, but t-shank capability), large pry tool(called a flat driver by LM..haha), fair small flat driver for pulling staples, decent awl, wire-stripping can/bottle opener, and bit exchanger(which I firmly believe is superior to other bit exchange methods). US made(which adds cost) and ONLY $99(US market). I don't think it has any real competition in the heavy-duty classification(because of the unique features).  :dunno:
So, that said, is this a challenge in the classic sense? Not in my opinion(which my opinion isn't worth a hoot anyway). BUT, is it a challenge to manage carrying the Surge? Yes sir, it is. While a few of us aren't bothered by the weight, I do know many people don't like a few extra ounces on their belt or in their pocket. :ahhh

My biggest complaint would be the Surge's susceptibility to main pivot damage when dropped on concrete or hard surface. I had to repair my scissors after the pivot hit the ground and sheared the scissor engagement pin. If the pin barrels get bent or the screw heads get damaged, you're in trouble. A bit more liner around the pivots would help a lot.

Day 2 - My Surge at work today, first, cutting cardboard flaps from box so tissue boxes could be accessible from the shelf, done easily by serrated blade.
Then used needle nose pliers to insert wires in distribution panel for new controller.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Thank you, Poncho!

Reading back at my last post, it looks a bit enthusiastic. But, haven't had a chance to carry the Surge since last December(Jan - SwissChamp, Feb - ToughTool, & Mar - Center-Drive). May be a bit excited.

Day 2

Still sorting out my new office. No action shots though. Notice board and 2 dry wipe boards put up, and window fixed.  The window was duct taped closed but awl it needed was a couple of screws to secure it to its bottom bar.  Hex headed self drilling self tappers did the trick to open the holes out and secure it..   The Surge awl is great for making wall plug size holes in plaster board too.
