... and managed to severe a nail too!  :2tu:...

It is if you like crosscut saws. Lots of good info. Crosscut Saw Manual by Warren Milller put out by the Forest Service in 1978 which are hard to find and can be pricey. I found this at a reasonable price several years ago.

Day: 11

Used Lyndax to break into a box of Kandy Kakes. Anyone who has had these will know that they are far superior to Jaffa cakes, instilling a savage appetite and a willingness to use an axe to liberate them for consumption.

Ah but they get marked down for replacing the "c"s with "k"s (replacing "s" with "z" is also a punishable offence in my book).

Day11
I almost missed this one, its been a long day.

So today we will just look at a Fiskars/Gerber axe.

The origonal Gerber axe and its Fiskars counterpart were released in 3 sizes; camp (lg), sport (med) and pack (hatchet).
This is the medium size or Sport as it would be called if it were Gerber labled.
Because this is the Fiskars this axe origonaly came with a hard molded mask/hanger that used a hinged retention strap and was meant to be bolted to a wall instead of a normal mask/sheath. This holder and the handle paint/logo are the only diffrence in these early axes.
One thing to note on the origonals is the way the handle molding sits up from the blade, while the blade is flat. This spot takes a beating and there was a chance for splinters/chips to wedge themselves in between during use, especially while splitting. The questionable wear issue was fixed in the 4th model released; the xl/splitting axe, in which the head flaired out past the handle molding to protect it. The flaired head would become common in all later production.

This axe was my truck axe from '02-'10. As far as use it was packed for about a dozen camping trips along with some light splitting at bonfires and gathering in that time.

I thought that Gerber brand were still doing the chopping axes in different sizes, but Fiskars only has the splitting axes other than the X7   :dunno:

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

I am not up on the current models...but when they started the axe line they had 3 that were the same for both plus the Gator hatchet w/the knife in the handle.

Not shure why this response is quoting weird so I will do it the old fashond way, sry
