Not as exciting... but... but it's still interesting and it relates to an ongoing MTo trope.  :tu:

Paleo-Fuzz (again) Day 22

Another Neolithic flint, but this despite appearances is not an arrowhead... Does anyone want to hazard a guess?

YES!... Although, actually it's more of a drill bit than an awl - it would've been fixed to the end of a wooden shaft and possibly rotated at speed using a bow. Well done cuz!  :2tu:

Fuzzy has completely made this up!!! It's obviously a neolithic cap lifter. Look at the way it has chipped along the edges with use!!!

Perhaps it was used to trephine stone-age headache sufferers.

Probably didn't take more than one or two successful treatments to cure an entire village of headaches......

Correct! It's an 8000 year old somewhat prematurely designed bottle opener!  :2tu:

Day 22
Today is a knife my Dad gave to me.  It was one of those TV limited run serialized specials and my Dad bought one for each of us children.  It was suppose to be saved because it might be worth something some day, but he didn’t say that when he gave it to me.  Being an active child with an attraction to knives, I thought it was meant to be carried and used.  Needless to say Dad wasn’t too happy when he discovered it being used and took it away for safe keeping.  I had forgot about it until as an adult my parents gave me a chest with various saved items from my childhood.  Now it is a shelf queen, not because I think it will be worth money some day, but more sentimental reasons.

...it is... how could you give a child a beautiful knife to not use or carry it?

It hurts me sometimes seeing our son misusing his Leatherman though  :dwts:

As a new Electrician owner, I have to admit, that blade is among my favorite on a SAK. Not only does it skin cables well, but it does everything the traditional "coping" blade can do and more.

Day 22. 1996 Leatherman PST. I bought it back when we did the PST challenge. The PST II, 6 years ago, was what welcomed me into the world of proper multitools, not bargain bin crap. It's what I carry when I need just a few tools, and decent pliers. Never have warmed up to the budget family (Rev, Wingman, Sidekick), Leap feels like cheap junk, and the Juice is fine, it's just what I do means the pliers are undersized.

Day22
Machete Monday
Top to bottom

Aranyik extended latin pattern
I originally intended to remove the grips, regrind the tang and hilt it up like a hunting or pioneer sword.... obviously that never happened.

Cold Steel kukri machete from a past day

SOG Kukri machete, sawback

United Cutlery sawback columbian machete

Marbles mr374 sword machete

Aranyik etoh pictured a few days ago

I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Me too , it’s just the can opener annoys me , Victorinox , Gerber and modern Leathermans can all open a can really efficiently. Maybe it’s just me but when I open a can I like to remove the lid entirely but this can’t be done with the early Leathamns , the last couple of cuts forces the lid into the can and if it’s soup thinks get kind of messy.

Day 22
My nasty wet weather jobs special,  the Gerber Gator. Not used as much as I'd like as it has occasioned comment on job sites so sits at home a lot of the time . Really love the handle on this, fills the hand and  the the clip point  blade really does the business for a big  knife.

Day 23

I think amongst the MCU characters, Dr. Strange bound to be one of my favorites.

On a stranger note, here are three that's pretty cool and strange.  The bottom Mikov fish slip joint I picked up from a trip in Europe couple years ago, the middle BODA fish knife I got from an ebay seller in China, and the top is the Le Theirs Rotosphere, which is a modern iteration of friction folder.

Neolithic trepanning - given the cure, the headache must have been awful....

Nice knives, everyone!

Day 23

Postie early today, so used my Victorinox 234k branded for Swissair to open up some packages - more modding bits for future use, 3mm brass sheet and some threaded pivots from Russia....
