Day 2 Carl Andersson Mora and Lockwood brothers tree marker

(Image removed from quote.)
Borg, how does the Lockwood brothers tree marker work?  Is it a sharp channel in the middle and you use it to score? :pok:   The orange Mora is really handsome!

Day 02

Buck Wrangler and a Case Sod Buster.
Another nice pair here! :like:

DAY 2

When you look at all these knives.. you really see just how much knives have become both art and function at the same time.  Lovin' these pics!  On day 2 I'm posting a pic of my Kabar BK16.   I modified the scales a little and I always remove coatings off of the blades and do my own patina.
Cool mod, do the bow drill divot actually work well? :D

Day 3.
Green River Dadley pattern in s/s.
This was my work knife for a couple of years, and was really great as it’s good for rope and all types of slicing. Original sheath wasn’t up to the task however and it now lives in a repurposed one.

That is marvelous!

Shame there aren't more GSA knives from Vic or Buck. Have you contacted Buck about that? Seems like the kind of thing Buck might like to be involved in. Although, it would require the GSA to get behind the idea of a Buck GSA knife.

Of course, these days and times, it's a wonder any scout is allowed to handle a knife.....

It is a shame that they don’t offer a better selection, especially SAKs or Bucks.  I haven’t contacted either but may try.

In 2012 for the 100 year anniversary, there was a Colonial Knife.  From then until recently, it was just one poor quality no name knife.  It does seem like they may have heard the complaints because in addition to the new Swiza offering, it looks like since I last checked their website (about 2 months ago), a few other knives have been added to include a SAK Tinker.

Day 02:

Today's carry is my most recent acquisition, a Buck 102. I gave my last 'Woodsman' away....silly me. Replaced it with this exclusive from Copper & Clad:

(Image removed from quote.)

The Woodsman is a real gem, and, has proven itself to be an excellent Bird & Trout type knife as well as a nice hiking companion. This one has already served to clip a few herbs and open a box of tea. It's iced tea weather here!
Nice. I’ve been looking at those too on C&C but can’t decide, 102,105,117? :dunno:

Day2
Taco Tuesday

A garden knife getting some kitchen time.
This is the Miracle-Gro garden/pruning knife. It has the feel of a dollar store toy but with awesome blades from Clauss.
I used to be a lot of things, and someday will again.
But for now I'm just a lost jack of trades with neither mastery nor home. ~NoaIsumi

Nice. I’ve been looking at those too on C&C but can’t decide, 102,105,117? :dunno:

I don't have any experience with the 117.

The 105 is a significantly bigger knife. The 102 always seems a bit small to me. (The blade of the 102 is about the same as the blade of a 110, but narrower. The handle is shorter. So the OAL of the 102 is shorter than a 110.)

However, even with my big hands, I can still get a full 4-finger grip on the 102 with a "hammer grip". More often I put my index finger along the spine and stick the pommel in the palm of my hand. This gives great control of the tip.

I'd post up a comparison shot, but I think I've lost my 105. No idea where, how, or when. And I'm still a bit miffed.  :-\

I've known several experienced hunters and woodsmen who thought the 102 was the ideal field knife. My uncle, an avid canoe-camper, gave me one when I was a kiddo. I knew a rancher who carried one daily. For 'bushcrafting' the 105 likely has the edge. For dressing out an Elk, the 105 would be a good choice. But for small game and general field use, I think the lighter, smaller, more discreet 102 is an excellent choice.

I found that I tended to carry the 102 more often than the 105. When the chance came up to replace my 102, I jumped on it. I don't think I'll replace the 105, despite it's being a great knife, but I don't think you could go wrong with either.

To be honest, I haven't used the divot I made on this one yet...  It needs put through its paces.  I need to make that a goal for this weekend.

The 105 is my only Buck fixie. I bought it off another forum for $20, I think it was, without a sheath. It, being '72-74, uses 440C steel. For my uses, the light weight of the knife (it feels lighter than a Mora Companion to me), the steel used, and the blade size and shape are just right for all around.

Day 2

This Benchmade Bone collector is my first knife that usher me into buying Spyderco, I used to think it might be slightly on the heavy side.  But in retrospect, this is a pretty robust knife that I miss carrying.

Sometime last year I was on craze for clip point knives, and I even went to a Cabela's to check out which one feels right in the hand.  A 119 was what I ended up getting from Buck, but all this talk about 102 and 105 really got me curious again.  What do you guys all think about 102/105 as compared to 119?

Thanks. I like the 102 blade shape, C&C had one with full flat grind that looked interesting.

Day 3: A trip down memory lane. This was my first fixed blade. I remember using it to explore my grandparents garden. It's probably just intended as a souvenir, but for a 5 year old, it felt just like a full grown Bowie knife.

Great knives and pics, everyone!

Day 3

Postie was early today for a change, just a new catalogue to open, so I thought I’d use an old friend who used to live in my camera bag back when I used mainly 120/220 film - just the job for opening troublesome foil (later plastic) packaging and slitting the paper bands holding the rolls together - a Hasselblad branded Leatherman squirt.

DAY 3

And another Buck. Today it’s the 112 Ranger, I feel this always sits in the shadow of its older Brother the 110 but really that’s very unfair and it’s a very capable knife and more friendly on The pocket if you choose to carry that way and of course it goes without saying it’s a Buck   8)

Exposed Fuzz Day 3

My old man had a thing for fixed blades and there's quite a few still kicking about here despite the fact he had a habit of giving them away without warning (including a beautiful bowie I had my eye on, a nice one... like a REALLY nice one). I think in many ways he preferred carrying fixies to folders. I got in fast with this one though and nick'd it off him before he managed to punt it to some undeserving dick as it was always one of my favourites... and my inheritance damn it!

It's a Sheffield made William Rodgers, probably late 50s early 60s - a fantastically solid wee knife, a real don't make 'em like that anymore affair. I think Stevie's got one just like it... Is that right cuz?

Powernoodle Day 3

Hello citizens!

Today I'm "carrying" the Cold Steel Marauder.  Though I don't do as much marauding as I once did, this will either be on my belt or next to me all day.  Sporting a 9" Japanese AUS 8 stainless blade and Kray-Ex rubber handle, the Marauder is legal for me to carry but is unwieldy on the belt and reaches down almost to my knee.

Here is a glimpse into Powernoodleworld.  I spend most of my days in a smoky industrial warehouse chopping rope:
