Day 3

Hubertus traditional Solingen pocket hunter

I actually use this one. It´s sturdier than an alox SAK and has the (for me) basic implements.

To be honest, I haven't used the divot I made on this one yet...  It needs put through its paces.  I need to make that a goal for this weekend.
I look forward to this--I have something similar in a scale too, but I felt unless there's a metal cap press fit in the divot, the friction may slow down the spindle down.  Still, it's way better than it skipping around under a rock.

So much input here...

day 3

Another tool currently on my workbelt:

Still intending to use it's 154CM blade in my Wave+ as soon as I can get my hands on some Loki-wrenches.

Borg, how does the Lockwood brothers tree marker work?  Is it a sharp channel in the middle and you use it to score? :pok:   The orange Mora is really handsome!

Yes just that, "U" shaped like a bowl gouge :tu:

Victorinox and Victoria with hand guard, saves your knuckles a bit

Day 3 Mora Eldris and Fallkniven LTC (legal to carry)

Eldris is one of my fav's, there's always one nearby, the LTC is a very nice little slippy, unusual in that it has a nail-nick on both sides of the blade, a nice added touch  :tu:

Powernoodle Day 3

Hello citizens!

(Image removed from quote.)
Today I'm "carrying" the Cold Steel Marauder.  Though I don't do as much marauding as I once did, this will either be on my belt or next to me all day.  Sporting a 9" Japanese AUS 8 stainless blade and Kray-Ex rubber handle, the Marauder is legal for me to carry but is unwieldy on the belt and reaches down almost to my knee.

Here is a glimpse into Powernoodleworld.  I spend most of my days in a smoky industrial warehouse chopping rope:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WDRJez9k18&feature=emb_logo

CS sure knows how to advertise their knives with catchy video, didn't know Chris Cyborg would be in one! :like:

Day 3: Perhaps the second longest knife that I've owned is this Air Force Survival Knife.  I like the little sharpening stone included in the sheath.
That's cool, and in great condition too! :tu:   I have one that has black metal bottom instead of brass, but when I first got it, I was surprised it was way smaller than I have expected it.

Thanks for the reply!

:like: Have no idea Falkniven has slipjoint like this!  :o    I like the concept of Eldris, but somehow I felt it is too bulky for my hand, and recently just got a Junior to mod it into a wharncliffe.

There´s one with a third layer, a gutting blade. I don´t think they have scout like knives.

Ahh that’s a shame. I have been looking for basically a Vic Farmer in a traditional style. Still a sweet knife!!

Thanks G.
It´s common for these Solingen hunters, of any brand, to have a corkscrew but no awl.
And the corkscrew on mine is a nailbreaker.
Some brands like Böker and Hartkopf offer traditional Spartan models, with crab claw can opener and wooden or stag scales.

Exposed Fuzz Day 3

My old man had a thing for fixed blades and there's quite a few still kicking about here despite the fact he had a habit of giving them away without warning (including a beautiful bowie I had my eye on, a nice one... like a REALLY nice one). I think in many ways he preferred carrying fixies to folders. I got in fast with this one though and nick'd it off him before he managed to punt it to some undeserving dick as it was always one of my favourites... and my inheritance damn it!

It's a Sheffield made William Rodgers, probably late 50s early 60s - a fantastically solid wee knife, a real don't make 'em like that anymore affair. I think Stevie's got one just like it... Is that right cuz?

(Image removed from quote.)

It's a William Rodgers but a bit different

Day 3

My work toolbox knife
A no name wonder with a gift shop look to the rubber handle, the only markings on it are Japan and some numbers,
My daughter spotted this in the Sand about 30 years ago on one of the islands in Halifax harbour, it eventually came to work with me and never left,
It opens packages, cuts belts and hoses, scrapes gaskets helps with lunches and any other abuses I can put it through, and really doesn't show it

DAY 3

My Buck 124 Frontiersman for day three.  I do a paracord wrap on this and my 119 as I've had the rivet pull through the leather in the briers on one of my older 119's and there's a possibility I might cry if I lost this knife.  (I also add some tennis tape wrap to the handle, because they polished the micarta on these scales to the point they kind of defeated the purpose of micarta - imo)

Day 03:

Today was a Buck 110 day. This one was issued with "Paperstone" scales. These are essentially a paper micarta. In this configuration the 110 in light and easy to carry. Out in the yard, the 110 pruned some branches and cut some irrigation line as I continue to modify the system to accommodate Winter's effects and some new plants.

While the 110 took care of small stuff, I had to pull out my Silky saw to prune off the remnants of a previously pruned limb on a young Maple tree. Hey, at least it's growing!

I love this saw! Cuts on the pull cut and cuts with determination. An excellent blade to have on hand.  :tu:

There were a few questions about the 102...yes, I got it right this time...the 102:

Top to bottom: 119, 110, 102

The 119 clearly dwarfs the others. I really like the beefy 119; however, for day to day utility, the 110 and 102 steal the show in my book. There was a question about the handle material of this 102. I beleive it is Buck's standard phenolic resin stuff, just in 'red' as opposed to black. I'd call it 'maroon' or 'ox blood' but Copper and Clad went with 'red'. I like it!
