Woah, woah, woah, Woah, hold the bus.... what? (pulls up a stool). Did you fix a problem for him?

Fuzz, yes I helped organise his state visit to the UK - I was posted for 5 years to various parts of the FSU in the 1990s - interesting places and times!

Day 9: Another handmade knife. Friction folder, with polymer resin imitating mother of pearl. Similar to CRKT's Daedalus, I think it served as inspiration for it.

Day8
Today we are back at the bench mat with an old favorite; a Gigand Guardian C designed by Fred Carter.

As you can probably tell this was a regular edc knife for me from 2001-2006ish. The knife is a triangular blade with a clip profile and flat back. The sheth is a boot/clip style wit a unique magnetic retention that works most of the time.
The reason I stopped carrying it was eventually the plastic started to wear out. The handle is verry banged up but the real issue is the shieth broke where the clip attaches, and the compartment for the magnets is comming open a little.
Truth is I like this knife and after dozens of tries have not found another small dagger I like. Shure this is a piercing affair that cant cut as well, but its size shape and weight made it a joy to carry.

Gerber did/does make a version of this knife with a tab retention that lockes into the thumbramp guard on the spine side. (I just never got around to buying one)

And since I am doing Gigand here are a pair of Bodyguard tantos. I'm not shure but these may have been my 1st liner locks, also long time carry. All 3 knives have Aus-8A steel for the blades. The folders have a some sort of cast aluminium alloy handle.

I got all 3 together as a bulk lot with about 40 other knives from a store closing.
Like the look of the Guardian C.  :tu:

Very Impressive Rizio!    :hatsoff: ... but disappointing. I was hoping for a juicy sordid sort of story involving prostitutes and rent boys, and political rivals disappearing etc... (sigh)...

Belated Happy Birthday Steve! More great knives and photos everyone!

Day 9

This one is my only fixed “knife” as such, it’s a Georgian (that’s the country not the state! ) dagger/short sword I was presented in the mid 1990s by the then president, Edouard Shevardnadze. A staggering amount of work goes into the scabbard, and the blade definitely holds an edge, but a little impractical as a modern day edc even if it was one back in the day in the trans Caucusus!

Awesome piece!

---

And also a belated happy birthday to Steve!

No doubt, for its intent and purposes, love the balance of the Applegate Fairbairn.

DAY 9
My field dressing knives/tools.   The one I've used the most is that little Buck in the bottom left.  It's a 100 year anniversary that never had a part number, but it's great on small and large game alike.  The Gerber Myth's are really nice as well, and the thin blade on the smaller one flexes enough I've used it on panfish and trout many times like a little fillet knife.

The Solingen traditionals are all stainless, 4.1034 IIRC. And that´s perfect for me.

Beautiful knife! I had a chance to get one, second hand, for €50. It took me a couple of days to decide on buying it, but by then it was gone...

Back then I paid E 90 NIB and it´s worth every cent.  :salute:

I used to race the Kyosho AWD before going into 1/10 touring, and things have been leaps and bounds better than those days.  Cody, if you are looking smaller scale truck, I'd suggest to check out the Kyosho Mini z Toyota 4Runner.  It's a 4x4 crawler and what I like most about Kyosho Mini Z series is their really realistic body without any painting, and the options to upgrade is practically limitless.  Here is a video by Amain:

That thing is awesome!
