Day 20

(Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)

It's been a pretty long day and really needed that cup of life elixir to keep me going.  Trekker helped open a coffee packet, and the slick packet always let me know when it's time to resharpen the knife again.

(I accidentally quote the wrong day yesterday, but today definitely is 20 Jan)
Nice sharpening set-up

Thanks Rizio and Sos :tu:

Believe me Sos Coco does pretty well, (and deservedly so), she even has her own well stocked treat cupboard :) with something like 10 different treats which she gets every day …you’d think she was wearing a watch, always knows when the next one is due (Image removed from quote.)
(Image removed from quote.)
I had no doubt he is spoiled, but if anything like Fisher, he doesn’t know that
You spoil your dogs...

That is the way dogs are suppose to be.

When Fisher was about a year, I got him a pet store pig ear and he almost choked on it.  I decided never again.

Solid, almost like like the Surge compared to the Wave.  Springs are very strong.  That main blade is a beast!  I can definitely see this knife holding up well.
:like:   Initial impressions?

Day 20
The Outrider helped remove an o-ring and cut a zip-tie so I could replace a pocket clip on a flashlight.  It cut some boxes up to put out for recycle day.  It also helped cut some dog treats, which Fisher intently supervised.

I also discovered the hard way that the Outrider’s awl is sharper than expected and that a cut in the webbing between thumb and bleeds a lot.

Awlways good to have the scissors for first aid situations.   Because the 111mm SAKs are bigger, I think I feel ok with different SAKs on different days.  I've got two, and I think I could do with two more - the Adventurer and the Hercules.  But I know in a couple weeks I'm going back to my usual Pioneer X

:iagree: scissors are way useful, like you PX (or FX) are common carries for me, as are climber, compact and huntsman.
I really like 84mm models like walker, bantam alox and cadet, as well as the 93mm farmer, pioneer/soldiers too, as all good in the pocket but then do miss the scissors

The Evo14 & 18 are also good when you want something slightly smaller with scissors and although you lose the small blade, you gain a file.
From a toolset perspective the Evo14 is the closest thing to a CadetX currently sold I reckon and surprised not mentioned more often, even if wenger rather than vic scissors and of course fat cellidor scales, not slim alox ones

On this challenge I've been really impressed with the outrider and 111's in general, with the adventurer for pocket carry and outrider for when I need that bit more

I've  now been in challenges for 4 straight months and as fun as they are I'm kinda looking forward to a month off when I can switch about a lot.

Think i might do a 30 SAK's in 30 days challenge soon, be great to have others join me if anyone's keen?  :dunno:

Ps. Due to this challenge with a bigger Victorinox i am tempted to acquire a 130mm ranger grip for the Delemont challenge later in the year. Any opinions on the 130 mm range? Or even the alox Hunter

I am adoring the outrider. One of my new favourites alongside the; pioneer x, S111, compact, bantam alox and the Climber. I really just like this knife.

Bobby, if you want to see a size comparison of the blades and saw between 111 and 130, please check this post i did recently (shameless plug alert  )

Day 21: I used the RAF Hunter today before switching to the Work Champ. The small blade is definitely something I miss on the larger knife but I've been neglecting the larger blade lately.  We cut open a bag of bird seed earlier.

You’re very welcome mate :hatsoff:

The 130 saw is a fair bit more usable IMO, they all work well but that extra size makes it much easier

Bring on the Delemont :tu:
