Like Facom Rotator Handle Ratchet 1/4'' but that doesnt have ability to put 1/4” bit straight without adapter. I would like to see one with ability to accept 1/4” bit without adapter

I have not reviewed any ratchet like that yet. I hope to find one that is small.

What ratchet you recommend for edc purpose? I need one with low swing arc and ideally bit adapter on both end. I have Vic ratchet but it feels too high swing arc for tight places.

Low swing arc and driver on both ends. :salute:

Ares
I edc this. 72 teeth = 5° swing arc. Good size. Inexpensive. No problems with it.

Prestacycle
I like this one. 60 teeth = 6° swing arc. High quality. Comes in a nice, flat nylon wallet. You can put the extender through the head for T-handle.

Topeak
48 teeth = 9.5° swing arc. This is high quality and comes in a nice pouch with bits and an extender.

Rujoi
60 teeth = 6° swing arc. Flexhead. You can also have T-handle with this one. Many brands sell ratchets like this one.

Here is a size comparison. The Rujoi is a little longer than the PrestaCycle.

I think I need the Rujoi : the handle is a little different than the Facom/usag, and it could be better at some point

I got this Tone (Toh-neh, not 'tone') ratchet this morning and I am impressed. A nice compact package, with extension, twenty bits, and a tiny Tone logo sticker, in a drill bit container. That extension is truly amazing. But no spoilers. :D
This is available in Amazon Japan. Fast DHL shipping, five days from order to my door. I am very pleased with it and recommend it for a nice, compact edc set. Full review will follow soon. :salute:

That looks awesome, maybe need to but this instead others. Noticed that price bit salty for only ratchet but it has rotating handle and fairly low swing arc so i might forgive price for those.

Looks very close to the FACOM/USAG one, even the box is "similar" but not "same" : it's shape might be even better ! (but the hinge, and the locking mechanism are identical for what I see)

Does it feature the "compact" socket adapter or the standard one?

It's so tiny! Basically a Topeak head attached to the in-line driver. I still think this is overpriced. And it may be too small for some people. The Topeak set is only a couple dollars more, and has a wallet, twelve bits, ratchet, extension, and two tire pry bars.

I also got the SOG PowerPint. Finally a SOG worth getting. I quite like this one. And it has a can opener. :D

That is super cool! Unfortunately like most of these

1. There's no knurling
2. The end-bit holder is too shallow for double sided bits

Would be just about perfect for a little keychain EDC driver if it was just a little deeper like the leatherman bit extension, then you could use regular bits, leatherman bits or wiha like double ended bits like you can on the ratchet end. I'm going to order some of these stubby double sided bits from amazon and see if they're short enough to work with it...

What's the id for the one on your picture?

What an awesome thread! I put together a miniature tool set, knifeless, fits in a non-elastic mag pouch, Vic Card scissors missing from the picture. Should be flight safe according to our national carrier which I use and who allows scissors up to 6cm. The ratchet is the smallest I've found. Wouldn't bet my life on it, but the extender works as a bitholder/driver on its own and Knipex can be used to turn it if force is needed.

here is a pretty limited one - it is a kit for removing the doors from a Jeep. I guess I could drop in or replace bits with something more common. It has a belt loop on the back if I need to carry it

Update: The Steinwhale bits fit perfectly, like it was made for it. Now it's easy to keep a flat head and phillips on the tool even while it's on your keychain.  Kinda wish they included security torx in the set, but I'll take what I can get!

From top to bottom: Steinwhale, Wiha, Klein, leatherman

Ironically, although the Wiha double ended bit is shorter than the Klein overall, the shortness is in the middle, not the ends, and is actually just a hair longer than the Klein on the ends.

This means sometimes a bit extension can use the Klein but not the Wiha despite the wiha being shorter.  For example, both ratchets can use any of these bits in the ratcheting portion, but the longer ratchet cannot grab the Wiha bit on the end (and barely grabs the klein, almost enough to not be usable in regular practice but would work in a pinch). The shorter ratchet cannot grab either the Wiha or the Klein.  Both can use the leatherman flat bits, but they wobble a lot.

An ideal 2nd Generation version of these ratchets would have knurling and a deeper well on the end, like the leatherman extension, with a combo of magnet and wire retention. This would provide redundancy in case one retention method fails, and can use all bits, even the Steinwhale (though you will need assistance removing it).

Those bits are handy indeed.  :like:
It's a shame that the people who sell ratchets don't put that much thought into what would fit the best in their tools.

Cheapos were just some kind of stubby 1/4 hex and square drivers without anything fancy, might have a use for them I'll see.
Still waiting for the DR54 though
