Day 1

I'm going to start out with a Buck 303 Cadet.  I like its selection of blades, and its small size is perfect for a comfortable pocket carry.  I'm going to feel naked without a multitool, but I'm going to stick with just the pocket knife as much as possible.

It came in handy several times today - opening packages, breaking down some boxes, and cutting tags off of a bunch of crap we bought.

Just one time I had to go get a multitool.  I needed to fix the little wire-loop-thingy that holds the hose nozzle open, and for that I needed pliers.  Here's a pic (although judging from comments, I don't need to post the "what else I needed" pics anymore):

Yeah... I've been edc'ing a four-layer SAK for the past month. When I dropped the K55K in my pocket this morning, I felt a bit confused. "Wait....that's it....?"

The Dean51 Traditional Challenge
Day 1

Outstanding start to a great challenge everyone!!

This is the knife that I won in the giveaway last year. As my only GEC, I have cherished it. This will be the only knife I use to earn a GEC badge during this challenge.

I did tote it today, and used it to cut some tape once or twice at work, but no pics. So after work I walked around the yard looking for a photo-op. I wound up inspecting some new growth on a fig tree that I thought had died last year.

I wish I had a knife like that  :like:

Day 01

To start off The Dean Traditional Challenge. I remeber Dean often carried two knives and he liked one of them to have stainless blades. Dean didnt like patina aka rust.   :D  He also like black covered knives and Barlows.  Here are my two knives to start things off with.

Day 1

Buck 301 freed a new phone charger from the package.

I’m going to be very limited on what I carry roughly the first half of the challenge, as I will be on the road, but hope to show some different things when I’m home for the second half of the challenge.

Day 02

First, of a few, pen-knives for me today.  Bought as new this is still a relatively modern knife bearing the George Wostenholm I.XL brand.  Sadly the fit and finish isn't great.  Overly rounded blades, undersized covers and actually rough around the edges.  With a bit of work it's now OK, but it isn't the best advert for Sheffield production.

Day 2 -

My Camillus model 66, which was a
Pawn Shop rescue,

It was my first Stockman, and luv at first site. It is pictured with my 2 Buck 301s.

The 66 will be in my pocket until early afternoon, until I head to the airport to catch my flight south.  I sent a knife ahead with Son a few weeks ago for the challenge, so I will limited to offering variety.

No desire to donate to TSA’s sharp basket😜
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

The Dean51 Traditional Challenge
Day 2

I had to drive my daughter to camp this morning. Since she would be gone and isolated in the mountains for a week, I offered to buy her breakfast wherever she liked. She chose Cracker Barrel. The Bull Nose made easy work of the slice of ham they brought me.

On a side note,,,,, did you know that Cracker Barrell now serves cold beer, wine and other alcoholic drinks? That was enough to make me question any future trips, but I didn't want to be rash. So we went to order and found out they have eliminated turkey bacon and sausage from the menu as well, which is a big deal since my wife cannot eat pork. They also eliminated the cherry and blueberry toppings that you used to be able to put on pancakes. My poor wife had a heck of a time finding something that she would enjoy. But hey,,, at least she could wash it down with a cold Michelob. I hate when folks go messing with classics,,,,

Not your first Arthur Wright knife, is it?  How strong is the backspring on it?  Beartrap or just nail breaker?  Definitely want some ebony scales for myself now. :D

No I have an older stag LF

It's not a nail breaker but it does have a healthy snap to it.   :D     I'd say a pull of seven or so .

I got it from Steel City Cutlery $38 plus shipping

@David - is that Bareheaded trapper the new exclusive to DTL?

Thoughts, I have been eyeing, but not a big green fan, saw somewhere else was offering S35VN steel on Stockmans (Case)
