I'm pretty sure I have my final selections here and should get this out to lazar tomorrow if I can make it to the PO.  I will try to stuff it all back into a new medium priority box, but we might seriously need to consider going to a large.  You all have simply been way too generous and even a brand-new box is going to be at risk of another blowout.

My selections. A Case mini trapper smooth bone with Wharncliffe blade, a Kershaw Speedsafe 1940, a Kershaw Speedsafe 3871, a Victorinox Classic SD, a Kobalt utility knife, a Bushnell AAA single cell flashlight and an MTO patch.  All pictured on my Florida Panthers' "Terrible Towel" for all of you hockey fans.

Very cool picks!  I remember seeing that case in the box last time I had it, surprised it last that long in the box.

Nice picks, Alan! :tu: I won't be taking another go just yet. I'm in another of my "don't acquire much more new smurf" phases, and the jackalope definitely wouldn't like the Michigan winter. :D

The box is sealed and ready for the post office.  3 different times I thought to myself, "Everything fits, that wasn't so bad." and 3 different times I looked over and thought to myself, "smurf, there's another bag that's supposed to go in there."  Only, I didn't think "smurf".  When I tell you the box is full I'm not smurfing kidding.  It's full and I didn't think "smurf" there either.  The box is so full there was no room for any extra bubble wrap or packing material.  The Jackalope saw the box and is lying in a fetal position in a dark corner and won't stop crying and won't look at me.  I think we'd better go back to using the trebuchet for a while.  Have to add more stones to the counterweight but it should be ready to send as soon as lazar has the net strung in place.

I meant to warn Brother lazar to be very careful opening the box.  I needed 3 hands to squeeze the flaps closed so I could tape the bulging, straining box, and there is zero gap between the contents and the top of the box.  We're all proud of our package opening skills with our respective knives du jour but I just wanted to point out while I was thinking about it, that lazar and whoever else gets the box should take care not to cut too deep when opening it.

Got it, I'll make sure to use my Buck 112 when opening the box and slice all the way through, since I'm currently doing the Buck challenge!   :ahhh

Jk, I'll take care when opening the box!

Well, I think the jackalope may have taken the day off.  I have two other packages scheduled to be delivered today and both say out for delivery.  Mail has never run this late before, guessing they will be delivered tomorrow. :(

Sorry, haven't posted in a couple days, been pretty sick with covid and didn't really feel like doing anything.  Started feeling better today and went through the box again today and have made my final selections.  I selected the red Gerber Air Ranger, pretty smooth action, the tiny Schrade Old Timer, needs a little tlc, and finally the tweezer and a couple watch tools!  Thanks to all who have donated.

Added some items to the mix and box is packed and ready for the next person!  Whi wants it next?

I'm glad you're feeling better, Chris, and I hope you will be fully recovered very soon.  I don't even remember seeing the tweezers and watch tools.  Looks like you may be holding the box for a while so you might as well try to pick out some more goodies.  We're surely going to need to step up to a large box if everyone keeps putting in more than they're taking out.

I like the color of the Gerber Air Ranger.  My humble opinion is that there are too many things in the knife realm that are black and tactical looking, and I have developed an aversion to them.  We need more stuff in happy colors like that Gerber.

Yeah, I was barely able to get the box closed there's so much stuff, lol.  The watch tools and tweezer were in a little ziplock bag that was inside another ziplock bag.  I agree on the black knives, they've become boring to me, much rather have something with some color!

Add your name to the list if you want the box.  Any established member of the board can sign up.  You get to pick out some interesting goodies and, if you want to, you can get rid of some surplus pieces that you no longer need in your own collection.  All you have to do is pay the postage to the next person on the list.  It's fun because you never know what's in the box until you get it, and it's been going around for more than a couple of years already.   :pok: :pok: :pok:

Just bumping the thread.  If anyone wants to participate in the Sos Surprise Box giveaway, please copy and paste the list above and add your name.  You'll have to contact lazar with your name and address so he can send you the box and then, after you have made your selections, you'll need to send the box on to whoever signs up after you.

I'm still surprised no one signs up for the box.  Guess I need a bigger, flashing neon sign in my signature so people take notice.  I'd advertise it as "Fun for the whole family!"  As even my wife is interested in it from time to time even if it's just to see what's in there.  I know it's definitely contributed to my son starting to collect multitools.

I heard my wife getting on him the other day as he had two knives and a multitool sitting on one of the tables.  "Young man!  Your multitools belong in your room not on my end table!"

I giggled quietly to myself so I wouldn't get in trouble.

If the kid took the heat and brought those loose multitools to his room, and it kept you from getting in trouble, you 're going to have to give him something to make up for it. :pok:

No takers? :dunno:
I think some people aren't sure how this works.  The surprise box is mailed from one member to the next.  When you get the box, you pick out anything you want from the contents and add to the box if you have anything you would like to donate.  Show everyone a picture of what you took, but don't reveal what else is in the box so it will still be a surprise to whoever gets it next.  I have received the box 5 times since 2023 and it has been different every time.  The entertainment value of spending hours going through the box is itself well worth the price of admission, which is the price of mailing the box to the next person.  We're very happy if some member chooses items from the box and then lets their spouse and kids or family members pick out a few things.  There's been quite a few premium knives and tools in the box.  Leathermans and Swiss Army knives, Swiss tools, Case, Spyderco, etc., you just won't know what's in the box until you open it.  So, add your name to the list. .ww.
Here's some of the items I've pulled out of the box to give some idea about the treasures you might find.

I'll take a turn as keeper of "the box" if that's alright. :salute:

I've done a few different pass aorunds on different forums but this will be the first mystery one, kind of a fun way to do it.
