I agree - although I always tend to drink in in the AM or one cup after a nice meal at a restaurant. Unless I am in an office.

Hmm.?  The tip of my awl is so sharp I once cut myself on it.  I could easily use it as a pen blade.  Maybe sharp is the anomaly and dull is the norm, or maybe the dull tips have simply been used more and have worn down.  :dunno:

Day 14

Pumpkin carving at camp!

The spirit awl was a great pattern poker

And the butter blade is great for widening cuts already made.

I brought a couple extra knives with fish scalers to share around

And here are our two pumpkins finished.

Fantastic work comis, these are great :hatsoff: your arm must’ve been aching after all that!

Interesting results, I was surprised the Swiss Champ came out on top of the 91’s and also they the Farmer was some way behind, would seem an ergonomic issue as you surmise

Of the PBMT’s I’ve always found the Wave a bit uncomfortable and the Rebar much better, something borne out by your testing

I’m only cutting small branches in the garden rather than blocks of wood and will get the Bahco Laplander out for anything bigger but I think material also comes into play. I was a bit surprised the Spirit did as well as it did tbh, but as you say, practice and technique are important

For a grab and go MT I’d favour a 111mm Vic over any of them (again borne out in your testing) with probably a smaller SAK or the Rebar next. I like the Rebar saw a lot , but that’s the ergonomics again I’m sure

Anyway really enjoyed your videos mate :tu:

Thanks for the compliment and sorry for the late reply, I must have forgotten to press send last time.

For a any casual day hike or outdoor activities, 111mm definitely has always been my first choice, esp the OH plain edge Trekker(too bad it's discontinued, Vic works in mysterious way). Larger saw, OH lockable blade and tools, everything are perfect for outdoor use.

For heavier duty work, totally agree on the designated saw, and I love the Silky for that.

Hi BPR,

don't forget to post these fine pics in two weeks in a badge request thread for your jack o'lantern badge. They surely qualify for it!  :tu: :like:
