Day 17 of 30:
We have a program in my school called "Bead and Read" during November for Native American Heritage Month. We are supplied with beads and sinew for the kids to make things like bracelets and necklaces during ELA classes. I used my MC for cutting the strings apart to divy out beads, for cutting the sinew before they started, and for cutting off the tag ends after tying them on.

I'm fairly certain that I'll regret saying that it's still unseasonably warm here in my corner.   72° today but dropping an average of 10° through next week.  Anywho, my MiniChamp and I are ready for whatever comes our way.

Day 17

The MiniChamp excelled once more in its role as an all purpose nailcare device today. I do not use the MC's nail file very often, but when I do it's always a pleasure. Just wonder if anyone ever used the cuticle pusher for its intended purpose?

I tried to poke a hole in a paper seal with the cuticle pusher/miniscoop.  Didn't work.  I have seen men take a pocket knife and scrape the cuticles that were growing down on their nails.  I don't think most people have nails like that.  There is nothing to push on my hands.
Lots of you are using the little screwdriver/caplifter tool.  My old Mini doesn't have that.  I have a Rally with that tool.  Got to have more use than the cuticle pusher.
If you are easily irritated, then don't read the next sentences.  I haven't done a single thing so far with the MiniChamp that I couldn't have done just as easily with a Classic.  I suppose that the engineers at Ibach sat down and figured out how many reasonably useful tools could be put on the 58mm platform.  Somebody came up with the scoopula and nobody else had a better idea.  There is a limit to the utility of any tool.  Regardless of size.  That limitation is greater when you only have a couple of inches to build utility into.  The MiniChamp (and all 58s) are sturdy and have quite a few things they can do from day to day.  There are limits however.  Best wishes.  G

Day 17

My MC kept me company today while I recovered from covid.  At least I don't have the fever and chills that I did last time.

Also, what's the recommended way to sharpen a Minichamp?  I've never sharpened something this small before so I don't want to ruin it.  I've taken a great liking to it now that I've had to use it so consistently.

Day 18
Let's see....  I opened the jelly already.....  What comes next?  Jelly?   Oh, yeah.  The peanut butter.
MiniChamp vs. Peanut Butter.  I tried to poke a hole in the thickish paper seal with a mini scoop/ tongue depressor or whatever you call it.  It sure isn't a paper seal poker.  Wharncliffe slit it like it wasn't even there.  The blade smelled like peanut butter a little in spite of being wiped off afterward.  I eat a little peanut butter now and then, but dislike the smell.
I just finished touching up the edge of the main blade on my Mini.  It was already pretty sharp, so I gave it a couple of licks on my black Arkansas razor hone.  MiniChamp sharpening method?
I sharpen a Mini exactly like any other knife.  I free hand it with an Arkansas stone.  Then I take a few swipes on the razor hone.  Nothing different, except that I don't push on the blade so hard.  I don't want to take a chance on loosening anything.  I haven't sharpened the Wharncliffe yet.  That slightly concave surface might not match up with a flat stone so well.  If I sharpen it, I will try a Crock Stick.  (Ceramic rod)  I heard someone say it was harder to sharpen a 58mm.  I never had any issues, personally.  The blade before and after sharpening should look the same.  No obvious metal removal, grind marks, etc.  A blade sharpened like that should last indefinitely.  I wouldn't use a carborundum on these tiny blades, I think.  If that is what you have, go lightly.  Hope you get to feeling better, Aztec.  Best wishes.  G

Day 18 and the MC came into use when I needed to cut some coffee filter paper to fit a jar as I decanted black ink from a 'melted' shaggy ink cap (shaggy mane) mushroom......

Happy Saturday everyone.
Rummaging around through some stuff, today, I found my old Grumpy pouch which houses a small pliers based multi tool, Doohickey+, flashlight and of course a MiniChamp.

Day 18

When I was younger, I liked going to Ikea but didn't have proper tools to assemble the stuff. These days I hate going to Ikea but at least the assembly is no longer a chore.

The MiniChamp, though eager to help, had to content itself with minor cutting tasks.

Opened a bag of broccoli seeds from Amazon.  I keep 2 quarts of broccoli sprouts going at all times.
