Day 29
Day 29

Belt cutter used to cut orange from tree.

Oh!!!
FB’s use today sparked an idea in my feeble brain😜

I was preparing supper about the time I read her post and use, and thought I think I can use the belt cutter to help prepare my desert…

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

So I pulled a CaraCara orange from fridge.   Normally I cut  in 1/8s and open wide and bite the juicy flesh from the skin.  Or, I use my orange peeler on the Vagabond and slice the skin, and peel away the skin sections.
So I tried the same function as the Vagabond’’s  implement but with the belt cutter.

And to my surprise😜🙄🤪☺️ it worked, it really worked.
I thought yes it should cut the outer skin, but it is going to mangle the juicy orange flesh.  Nope it did slice the skin and no not a divot of flesh was exposed or juice lost.

I didn't find the implements too short yet.
And otherwise there is the bit extender too.
And a serrated blade and a strap cutter.

Yes, there is! And I've heard that the opening hole can work as an impromtu oxygen tank key (but, I'm not so shure about having two ferrous/sparking metals grind onto each other on an oxygen tank!!!).

The fittings on the Oxygen bottle are brass.

Day 30: Today's carry next to tomorrow's.  This has been a great time!  As always, it's the people who make it so.  Thank you for hosting this Rich! That being said, the OHT is a good, solid carry.  It has everything you need that's easily deployed.  I didn't find any of the implements too short either.  The body of the tool makes the individual tools appear small in my opinion.  Although this tool seems to be for the first responder and military market, I could have used it quite happily as an EDC or in my hiking pack.  It's a shame Leatherman decided to cancel it because I think it has a lot of potential.
I took this picture just to see how much larger the Center Drive would be compared to the OHT.  I was really surprised when I kined them up!

Day 30

Last Day!  :ahhh  As a pocket-carry dude, this was a difficult challenge.  I usually throw a multitool or knife in my pocket as soon as I get dressed, but this month I was waiting until I was headed outside to work or leave before putting the OHT in my pocket.  Consequently, I forgot it several times  :ahhh  Overall, I think that's the core reason that the OHT is one of my least favorite tools.  Design-wise, it's very cool, but all of that one-hand opening I love requires too much handle bulk.  The number one complaint I have read about the OHT is its shorter than normal blade, but it didn't bother me at all.  :dunno:  I think if I was into belt sheaths, I would probably like the OHT a lot.

Thank you all for joining me in this challenge, and thanks to all of the great comments from people watching from the sidelines.

DAY 30

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

My second 30 day challenge for this large tool.

My summary is in that 2019 thread (November),  that tool was gifted as I never saw myself needing it again since my ST300 and Rebars were ever present.

After a few months I DID miss the functionality of this stout yet functional tool.    As evident, I found another OHT BO model, and since I kept my sheath I was whole again.

The oHT resides in my upstairs hobby room, always within reach, and whenever I find my left hand trying to fix something and I need a tool, the right can reach out grab the  OHT, teeth rip back the cover, the tool is released and what ever implement was required, wha-all it is deployed and project is completed.

It has been a true joy to share experiences with AWL of you :hatsoff:

FRIENDS😁

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 30

Sure did enjoy this challenge with you all!
I really like the OHT and at the beginning of the challenge I thought it might be too big of a tool.
I still wish it was trimmer in size, but overall I like it and wish they hadn't discontinued it.  I wouldn't have minded a non-spring action version of it.
Last photo of the challenge is the OHT with a beverage I like to drink while on a road trip.  Easy to find in many gas station mini marts.

Rest in peace ColoSwiss, you will always be remembered.

So glad you joined our event!  Definitely your presence improved the atmosphere and added a  touch of class to the month.

Funny, I forgot ‘Yahoo’ is a beverage found in C-Stores.  Occasionally have seen  in bottles.
For me, I usually have some Protein Shakes in the same style containers, do not require refrigeration, but better chilled.  Even spine my coffee with vanilla or caramel or chocolate!

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!
