Day 5

Here’s a 119 Special.  I thought this was perhaps one of the better known Bucks after the 110, but unless I missed it, one hasn’t been shown in this challenge until now.

I’ve had this one about 15 or 20 years.  The knife hasn’t changed a lot in probably 80 years, but they don’t offer this sheath anymore.

Glad to see some knives passing around. I wonder if there's a way we could get a circuit challenge where we have 30 people mail 30 knives in a circle or something. Probably not practical.

Day 5

My wife asked me to open the packaging (a bag, in a bag, in a box, in a box) for my step-daughter's beanbag chair. Took a pic with flash since the room we're airing it out in wasn't super well lit. The way it made the handle of the 110 look is pretty cool.

The 119 is iconic and beautiful

Collector or Hoarder?
That is this mornings question, as these items have been acquired because the price was to tempting to walk past!
In my moment of weakness I will admit I DIDNOT buy awl that were displayed.   The 055 was the best deal, found at Menards in Lafayette, IN for under $25! And it was the only one on a peg.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Today, $45 is a bargain as well.

I think on Buckknives.com $70!  When I got my first maybe 10 - 11 yrs ago, paid about $35.

The one pictured I acquired about 9 years ago when I was traveling for work.  Retired 6 or 7 yrs ago.

I actually forgot I had this assortment. Found in a knife drawer looking for something else this morning when I could not sleep.

Hope yours is as good!

Day 06
Today I used the 450 to open the latest iteration of the Sos Surprise Box that just arrived at my house. There's so much goodness packed in the box that it apparently suffered a blow out and had to be resealed by the post office!!! If anyone wants to sign up to receive the box just go to the thread and add your name to the list.    https://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=90040.1350

Day 6

Thanks to FarmerX for passing thus Buck 112 Slim Select to me.

First impressions:

three things jump out at me right away.

The clip point makes it feel slimmer than what I am used to, which is nice.

It feels nice in the hand, nicer than I expected. I am used to a SAK so handles with finger guards tend to feel unnatural to me. This is very different and feels comfortable in the hand (better than the 110 as well)

The snap as it opens and locks up seems really secure and the lock interface has an extra nubbin of metal to add to the strength.

Overall, I’m excited and looking forward to putting this through its paces.

My birthday is tomorrow, but my wife grabbed cake last night due to the (mostly non-existent) weather. If you can't cut your birthday cake with your pocket knife, what's even the point of being an old man?

But it's getting kinda late for me. Off to bed I go. See y'awl again soon!

This version of the 250 Saunter features 154CM steel and black canvas micarta handles.

It’s a decent little knife for what it is, though I generally prefer smaller slippies like this to have at least two blades.

Nice! I got both the first and second-gen Bucklites after the first Ranger challenge; and honestly, I can't recommend one over the other. The first-gen's micarta-like texture to the Valox feels better, but the later one with the slight inset to the texture is lighter. Plus, both have finger grooves.

Day 6;

Bucklite 444--the '90s (1996, exactly) lightweight version of the 501 Squire. Also, along with the 442, it's a birth-year Buck for me.

Like most Bucklites, the first and second gen are better. Seems like Buck still makes the second gen (424) for some retailers--but these may have just been a clear out of old parts. The first gen 424 is rare as hen's teeth.

The finger grooves seem to be just right on these models as well, which is great.
