You've seen these. No-brand, double bit driver L-wrenches. I got a few, for the collars and bearings, so I decided to take one apart.

Apparently it consists of two small, 1/4" hex to 1/4" square sockets, and a square L-wrench, with hard plastic around. The square key is not 1/4", so to make it fit, the square hole is filled with the plastic. So not the strongest bit driver out there.

The two sockets fit perfectly on square socket adapters. One such socket is $5 or even more. Get one of these, for two of them.

I was looking seriously at a very similar one this morning and decided not to buy it.

And now I see this thread.

I should have just bought the damned thing and saved myself the effort.

I wonder could those be used as adapters to Gerber phillips or Leatherman phillips

Thank you for the tip, ReamerPunch, as they'd be dandy for my SOG Powerlock's socket driver! :tu:

The philips on my mp600 is 3/16" so I'm going to guess they wouldn't work.

This is the reason I got these: I cannibalized the collars for extensions and a t-handle pen screwdriver that take double-ended, ball-bearing bits. Regular bits would fall out, but now with the collars and bearings, regular bits are just fine.

With a little grinding, the square wrench can fit the square hole bit adapter that fits the Rebar, MP400 etc.
I realize the irony of adding a bit adapter on it, when it originally came with bit adapters anyway, but I needed the collars for other things, and why let the square wrench key go to waste?  :D

I cannibalized the L wrenches for their collars, so I had two wrenches with no collars. So I thought I'd twist some thin wire into springs, and use ball-chain balls for the bearings, and it worked. :like:

Next step: use springs for whatever-you-needed-the-collars-for and you don't have to cannibalize L-wrenches anymore  :D

Yeah, about those no-brand L-wrench double bit drivers you see everywhere... I can't find one around here, try as I may.

Trying to get a small kit to carry around in a small tin, missing that bit (or a similar handle).
