Bought a new keychain multitool
on: February 23, 2026, 02:22:53 PM
I was browsing Amazon a few days ago looking for a new mini / keychain multitool and I discovered this little tool from Virenknife.  It looks a lot like the larger Bibury tools.  They sell for only $16 so I ordered one.  It came in this weekend and I was surprised the build quality.  For an inexpensive multitool, this thing is very well made.  It is a stout little tool put together very well.

Hello and welcome to the forum! :like:

Those were $13 a few days ago I think. It's basically the Gerber Dime, but half the price and silver. I have two in my cart. As soon as I find a few more things, I'll order them.

You are correct about the Gerber Dime comparison.  I am not too familiar with the Dime, but once I looked at pictures of the Dime, I see that it is basically a clone, but for half the price.

That would do well in the Keychain Plier Tool Challenge next time it's hosted.

I agree.

I really like the Dime so I'm interested to see how this one stacks up.   :D

Well, Mark, I ordered one just because of the peer pressure.  That, and I love small MTs like this one and the Nextool F12, S11, deceased Leatherman Squirt, etc.

I might have to pick up a cheap keychain tool if I ever do the Keychain challenge again.  As soon as I saw a photo, I thought it looked like a Dime.

Yeah it does look like the Dime, in terms of the plier profile and the look of the blade and package opener. Well, all of it actually.  Not that long ago, you could get a Dime at the same price as this.  Now they are $32 on Amazon.

These are direct clones of the Gerber Dime - maybe coming out of the same manufacturing facility.  The handle decoration and torx connectors are slightly different, but everything else seems to be identical.  Whereas deployment on the Dime has always be super stiff, the Virenknife is definitely smoother.  Its subjective, but the stainless flavor of the Virenknife gives off a higher quality vibe than the cheapy paint on the Dime that rubs off quickly.  These are pretty cool, and half the price of the Dime.

I actually like the Leatherman looking handles and flush fasteners better.  That is a good-looking
 mini plier.  Best wishes.  G

I actually like this design better than Gerber's Curve, because of the keyring attachment point.
