I have owned the 5-inch Knipex Cobra pliers since October 2011 and more recently bought the Tekton pliers from Amazon. The Tekton pliers are made in Germany by NWS. Both pliers are great and I can recommend either one. I tested both pliers gripping 3/4 inch steel conduit and the Tekton gripped better. The Tekton held the conduit while the Knipex pliers slipped. Every surface of the Tekton jaws has teeth. Two of the Knipex jaw surfaces lack teeth, which could account for the difference in grip strength. The Tekton handles are about 1/2 inch longer and are more comfortable in the hand, though the Tekton pliers weighs 33% more than the Knipex. Tekton has an easy warrantee process, should you need service in the future.
