Cool I think thats the most of my customs Ive seen together!  Eventually I will have to start collecting my own mods.  The nice thing is I get to build lots of different ones that people request so I get to see what configurations I'd like for myself.

Cheers

Check out these beauties that arrvied today!  A few custom made SAK blades in 154cm!! :D :D :D

Stock 93mm blade at the bottom of this pic.

We have some spear point, clip point and sheepsfoot.

Check out how thick these are!

The idea here is that these will go to making some old timer whittling type knives, but with SAK parts and one heck of a big strong beefy main blade.  I think a big sheepsfoot down the middle and then awl and pruner or small blade along the side opening from the other end.

Ha, you dont know how true THAT is.  I actually had a buddy at a machine shop surface most of my springs to scissors thickness as the by hand method was crazy.

Great plan!
Could an Opinel blade be added to a Victorinox? That would make an evil hybrid!

I like the blade shape of the ones on the far left and far right (both ends).  Either one would look cool on an alox!

Got any prices for them? :)

LOL ya... well the UK laws talk about blade length right?  Nothing wrong with a SAK with a short blade, that can also be used as an entry tool right? :D  Its still going to be slipjoint.

I have no idea what they will end up costing, this is all new to me.  It's mostly a test to see how I like a custom blade, and trying heat treat and different shapes out.  Someday I really need to learn to make blades too, but Im not there yet, so these were from a trade for a SAK custom from another blade maker.

Cool blades! Robert, what type of steel and who (if it can be disclosed) made/makes them?

Can you temporarily arrange a 93 mm alox frame in one of the configurations you thought off, not closed/finally assembled, just in place on the riverts/posts and one scale, and take a few pics from different angles to give us an ideea of how the new blades may fit in a 93 mm frame?

I'm almost caught up now on customs for others so I got to work on one for me last night.  Cadet II with scissors.  I have a few 84mm mods I want to make and collect, and this was first.  Next is a regular cadet with scissors in red, and backside awl.  I just about have that one fit up.

How's the backside tool working out? Do you think it would be possible to put a corkscrew on either a Cadet or a 93?

WOW!!!

I just caught up on 10 pages of new SAK mods...

I have SAKs in the mail to me... and then I can look forward to that mod we discussed.

Really nice work Robert!  I think I could almost just buy SAKs from you now instead of ebay.  I thought I was almost at that point, but last week I watched ebay for the week and had to pick up a few just because.  One is a nice black one PVD coated.  Since you seem to have the hard anodizing down, have you looked into PVD coating?

Now I have to see what Mr. Bushido has been up to.

I've only seen wenger blackouts do PVD, is that what you got, or is there a modder out there doing PVD?

For blacking thats the way to go, but mostly I like the shiny steel so I havent put much effort into trying, but its on the list of things to try someday.

The one set of alox scales I had made up with the corkscrew cutout, I messed up badly and didnt get to actually try that knife out.  The scales are so thin there is barely enough room to have that hidden pin.  I might just make some 84 Ti scales to gain some strength and try again.

For Ti I could, but alox the screw position would be right in the shield logo.

It is a Wenger, but not any of the the Blackouts we've seen lately.  This one is an earlier Porsche Design Edition-1 Traveler; it has a PVD coated main-blade, and PVD coated Ruthenium scales (they use Torx as well).

I agree though, for most applications shiny steel is what you want.

Would a back tool phillips work on an 84? What about a 91 corkscrew in a 93 frame?

The phillips and corkscrew should work on an 84, but need the cutout for the backscale.  I cant see any way to put backtools on the 93s, the pivots are completely incompatible.
