Here are some comparison shots and my thoughts....

The Zilla tool, for what little it has in features is pretty big, somehow I expect the knife blade to be bigger. The knife only opens by the flipper and then has trouble locking securely if you don't flick hard enough. The pliers are very good, no problem there, the clip is nice and strong and hold securely in my pocket. Due to the bead blasted finish though it gets scratched up easily. The only other thing left is the driver, it's magnetic, I would prefer a spring system like that on the leatherman tools but beggers can't be choosers, sometimes I think the bit isn't in there enough for my liking, and the tool comes with a #2 phillips and a #6 slotted. The slotted is fine, but the #2 is not quite small enough, might have to swap it with one that is better for both #1's and #2's. Oh and it's HUGE! lol

The Guppie is a different package, the crescent wrench is nice, can deal with some real world jobs and the surface of the jaws has teeth rather than the flat surface seen on most (check out the close up to see what I am talking about). The Carabiner works "ok", doesn't spring back into location like it should sometimes, the knife is one hand opening, it does not lock and has a spring like that in a SAK. The driver is like that on the Zilla and does a decent job. The Guppie does have a pocket clip (which I was unaware of) and works pretty good. The bit holder works pretty good, gives you 4 bits to hold and the bit holder can be attached to the tool right side up or  upside down. It does have a small hole at the end of the bit holder, almost like you could attach it to something,  with some help....keys maybe not, but something. The LED is pretty strong, only thing I don't like is that it's east to turn it on in your pocket, I see this battery going dead with little effort, good thing the batteries come out easily.

Well there you go, and you didn't have to wait till friday.....

Wow! Thanks for the hot pics!

How is the weight of the two tools? I expect the Guppie to be pretty heavy since it is an adjustable wrench set-up but am curious about the Zilla-Tool.

The Guppie is 5.2 OZ and the Zilla is 7.9 OZ, hope this helps.

Wow, that comparison picture with the folded-up Leatherman Charge and Buck X-tract is rather sobering....somehow I did not expect the CRKT tools to be so large.  :-\   The Zilla tool looks like it would be quite a handful (or pocketful) to EDC.

Thanks, the Zilla is kind of a heavy guy. I'm very anxious to give both a good workout, the Guppie looks oh so interesting.

I think they both look like quite the pocketful.  The Guppy looks like it will take up a significant amount of pocket space as well, at least width wise.

I can see a good after market in ''sticky on bit holder torch's' but I still want one.

Well guys, been a few days....here are some more thoughts.

Zilla:
Rust seems to be developing rather quickly, due to the bead blasted finish and the humidity down here (plus sweat plays a factor) the Zilla had rust on the spine, plier head and on the driver...some very fine steel wool took care of that but the point is, I have never seen rust come on this quick! Maybe because it's in my pocket versus in a sheath, with no protection from the "elements" they really should have had it polished.

The bit driver on both tools is ok, but I would much rather have had:

a)deeper well for the bit
b)stronger magnet to hold it in
c)spring tension rather than the magnet.

I was tightening a shelf display earlier today and while torquing away the bit popped out and I lost it for a minute and had to go find it, it bothered me that it could come out as easily as it did.

The Zilla does indeed take up my pocket, all the way to the bottom, and it makes me feel like there is space wasted, you could easily remove an inch or more from the overall design and still make it functional.

As for the Guppie, the carabiner doesn't snap in place right all the time and the jaws on the tool if attached using the carabiner, slowly wobble the jaw open? I know....odd. When using the pocket clip the bit holder/led has to be removed and placed in a seperate pocket or on your keyring, it just doesn't work together  :-\ The cool thing with the bit holder is, you can have it lock in place (using the pegs on the back) facing either the jaw or the screwdriver end, this would give you the ability to have light on the item you are working on, if you were in the dark for instance.

Havn't had the chance to give the blades on either tool a workout but both are razor sharp and I will have to find out what they are made of. Overall the tools are a good break from the norm, but being spoiled by past products has me feeling like something got left out. Anyways, more product testing......

Thanks for the remarks. It seems like they were trying to pack as much knife into the Zilla-Tool as possible, when they could have cut 1-1.5 inches off the blade and had a nearly as useful knife with a exponentially greater ability to be carried.

I still intend to get 2-3 because I am an absolute sucker for the knife+pliers (only knife+pliers, and I suppose incidentals like the bit driver on the Zilla-Tool but nothing like the X-tract. That is too much "Tool" and not knife+pliers.) concept.

I am not sure if there ever will be a Zilla 2.0, will be nice if they do, I would vote for all stainless construction with spring lock bit drivers  :P And like Def said....I do have friends in high places, this is the first time ever I have recieved something before it was "officially" out so to speak...doubt it will happen again...then again who knows what could happen around here.
