It looks nearly perfect on paper.  If it only had a diamond file. But I can live with the standard file.

While I'm looking forward to the ST 300. From the shots we've seen of it it's going to be a thick tool. The rounded handles of the ST 200 make them just as thick as the Zytel inserts do for the Core. If LM just take the Core implements and transplant them into a ST200 frame it's just a hair shorter than the Core.

Im starting to rethink this tool. If it isnt as thick as i think it will be then yes but if its thick than it might be "I will get one if I see a good deal"

I might have missed this but this thread is getting long... fast!  Is there any idea of what "price point" it will be coming in at?  Just kind of curious for those who might like to buy it to have but not use because of it's size.  Thanks.

That's MSRP... remember, dealers will sell for significantly less in most cases.

I don't know if this has been thought of yet, but I wonder if the move to taper down the handles at the pliers head was more than just getting rid of the zytel. On my core there are cracks where the handles bend. I think there was a thread about it here. It doesn't appear to be a problem, but maybe the pliers won't stay locked in well down the road. Maybe the design of the supertool 300 mitigates this and now leatherman won't have to deal with people wanting their cores fixed whether or not it is really needed. Either way this is just guesswork into why they did it.

Excellent comparison pictures prime. :tu: Those really illustrate the thickness differences.

Hi All,

Think I'll start carrying one of my Cores for EDC to get ready for the ST 300.

They gave themselves some wiggle room. They didn't specify September of which year.I'd love to see companies have the kinks worked out of new products, and inventory built up ready to ship BEFORE announcing release dates.

The Freestyle came out in May like they said it would. Maybe a good sign for the ST300.

The ST300 is a completely new concept though and bound to be the usual 6 months late.

I'm of two minds on the ST300. First and foremost, it really does look like an awesome tool. But, I really don't want one- it just doesn't suit me. It's missing too many things that I need and use every day: Scissors, the small bit driver (can't tell you how many times I've fixed my glasses w my SURGE), and though I appreciate the dedicated drivers and fully understand why so many prefer them, I find the bit drivers fit my needs better most of the time. That being said, I really do think that this may be one of the most important products LM has released in a long time. The ST300 should be a huge hit as it is a very well thought out tool.

Now Tim, when are we gonna see that plier head on the SURGE?

I am giving alot of hope that since they are busting out with a new supertool that someone will think that this is a working mans (or ladies :D) tool and add a quality leather sheath. Hell i'd be happy with a leather charge sheath.

I would bet they are reaching for September so that they are hanging on the pegs during the hunting shopping season. Just the Walmart sales alone would pay for design and first production. And of course I'll have to get one (maybe two, because you never know...).

I will get one when they come out.

In fact, I found out that the local gun/archery shop can order any current production Leatherman, Gerber, Byrd, and a few SOGs. I am thinking of later ordering one model, wait till it comes in, order another, etc. Might be cheaper then eBay with the expensive shipping charges.
