The return of the knurled fasteners... ::) Question: If the wire cutters have a hard wire notch, what is that small arrow at the base of the pliers?

Stranded wire cutters.

Holy crap! This is exactly what I wish the core would be!  :o They must've read my thoughts!

The return of the knurled fasteners... ::) Question: If the wire cutters have a hard wire notch, what is that small arrow at the base of the pliers?

Stranded wire cutter, same as the current core/surge head.

What you see is pretty well all I know about it so far.  I do have confirmation from Leatherman that there is no zytel in the composition of this tool.

I will keep you all updated as I find more information.

Me either... you know, it's odd... I was just trying to figure out the last few days what "this year's" tool would be, and the only contenders I could think of were the Spirit X and the Freestyle, both of which have been quite successful, at least in generating interest, but neither has the same excitement surrounding it that the original Spirit or the Skeletool did when they came out.  well, judging by the responses we have here, I'd say the ST300 is indeed "THE TOOL" for this year!  It's going to be hard for anyone to top this one, and I can't wait to get my hands on it and take it for a test drive.  On top of being functional, and completely without gimmicks, the ST300 looks good.....  it kind of reminds me a little of the Paladin PT-540 with that rugged industrial look, and as mentioned before it has a similar wire cutter system to Gerber's, but look at the rounded edges on the handles, and the blades and screwdrivers.... this may have outside influences, either inadvertent or by design, but there's no mistaking that this is a Leatherman product all the way, and a tool that would appear so far at least to be worthy of the SuperTool name!

The replaceable wire cutters are not that big a deal to me. But I know that other guys love the idea. I always liked the rounded handles of the ST 200 and Pulse and look forward to their return. I really like the cut-out for the knife :tu:

Yup, that's a nice update on the Supertool/Core.  Enough tweaks to make it new, but still sticking to the tried and tested formula.

I wished the same of LM when I first got my MP700. It took them like, what, 4 - 5 years? But they finally did it! Kudos and here's to the rest of the manufacturers following up.

BTW Grant dude you're singlehandedly making the LM newsletter obsolete... :D

Well this is a nice surprise  :D Who would have thought taking a step backwards would bring Leatherman so much more forward  :salute:

I'm glad it doesn't contain plastic  :tu:

I'm glad it doesn't have a stupid built in bit holder that takes up too much room and isn't funny when you drop the bits in the dark etc.

I'm glad its got the old style nurled screws  :tu:

I'm glad its got no silly gimmicks  :tu:

and most of all I'm glad Leatherman listened to its customers  :tu:

Grant I think your right when you said its going to be THE Multitool of the year  ( so far  ;) )
I wonder if they will try and re-create the old style sheath . I hope they don't put the release date back like hey did with the Skeletool  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

I think thats the whole point . Leatherman realised that alot of its customers liked the old style tools which didn't contain plastic and gimmicks and have applied some of their more sensible improvements to an old and tested design .

Then it would almost be a Surge .If they put outside opening tools on it then it wouldn't be a Supertool .

This is the product of what happens when a Wave and a Kick have sex together
Going by the cutters I would say one of them was sneakin around with a gerber also 8)

First thing I thought of when I saw them , so it is not all one way traffic when it comes to good ideas  :P :P. I wonder if the Gerber guys are having a big party  :P :D :D  " Hay look Leatherman think we are clever " :P :D :D :D

" Each one is designed to address the user who demands strength, quick access to tools, and comfort for tough jobs. "

But inside opening tools like Noth said

I would have liked to see the 'blade exchanger' from the Surge & I would have liked to see a diamond file in there.

Besides that I will probably end up with one  :D :D :D.

Def has LM said that the Core will definitely phased out

That's pretty cool!

What's with the little arrow thing at the bottom of the plier head??? Crimpers???

To many flat heads really for me...and lanyard ring as well???

Might of liked some scissors instead of those...then again I can always carry a SAK with it :)
