Delayed gratification makes it all the more worth while you know ;)

I'm certainly looking forward to more info and proper specs etc.

Releasing them "soon"? Is that like Supertool 300 soon or Freestyle soon?

Unfortunately I have no info on when, although it's just a few short weeks to SHOT, so I can pretty well guarantee that if you haven't gotten the info before then, I'll be making a point of doing something about it!

I finally picked up a Skeletool CX with plain edged blade today.  I see they are starting to make their way into store stock now.  That is my most cutting edge Leatherman.   :D

The new Skeletools will have the same blade as the Freestyles.  I would suggest keeping your Skeletool CX stock, as it may have some collectible value as a "first year variant."  It's up to you though, I'm just making a suggestion!  :D

Yeah, I thought of that but I'm not a big fan of the Skeletool.  I've had the standard Skeletool for a long time and when I saw that the CX was going to have the plain edge blade I thought I would wait for it to come out.  It's been a while because most of the stores, online and brick & mortar, are still selling off the combo edge CX.  I mostly collect but I still don't want a combe edge CX.  I'm sure I'll still be able to find a combe edge CX for some time to come if I change my mind though.

Well it's a collectable whether you collect it or not... you could always see if anyone else here was interested!  :D

I wonder how collectable they will be.  Especially if you can easily switch the blade out with a torqe driver.  Remember the thread that Nutznboltz posted with the Wave that had an S30V blade on it?  http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,13998.0.html  Everyone was telling him not to open it.  By the way, do you know where the date stamp is on the Skeletool CX?  I've looked in the usual crevaase's and didn't see it.

Ah. Both my Freestyles are dated, but I haven't seen a dated Skeletool yet.

Same here, Freestyles are dated and Skeletools not.  I never checked for a date stamp on my standard Skeletool and I've had it a couple years.  It wasn't until someone posted a thread a while back about date stamps on the Freestyle that I checked them out.  I figured the date stamps would be on the same place on the Skeletool as they are on the Freestyle but as I've now learned that "ain't" the case.

Somehow I thought I heard that they were going to start dating Skeletools too. I haven't seen one yet though.

It's strange that they don't.  They seem to date all their other tools.

They went back to stamping dates on tools at our prodding, so if anyone wonders if anyone is paying attention to what goes on here....  :pok:

The Skeletools, last I heard, are not going to be date stamped as there really is no room for it.  The one spot here they could put a stamp is something they want to leave blank for engraving/etching logos, names etc.

I just assumed it would be the same for the Freestyle, but then both of mine are prototypes so that explains hy there is no stamping on them.  :D

I have no idea... until I read this thread I didn't even know the Freestyles were stamped!

Can anyone post pics of the stamp and where it is?

I can't post any pictures tonight but can describe where it is.  One thing I also never noticed before is that there is a date stamp on my standard Freestyle but not one on my CX.  The date stamp on my standard model is on the inside of the handle that has the pocket clip on it.  If you open up the handle with the pocket clip facing up look at the piece of metal with the 6 holes on it.  My date stamp is 0209.  If I get a chance I'll take a picture of it tomorrow.  I thought they both had date stamps on them, but just the standard Freestyle with the gray metal has it.  I wonder if the metal color has something to do with why the CX isn't stamped?  It might not show up?  Just thinking out loud.
