Don't usually post here - Although I do look at this thread a lot !! And thank you to all of you who do!!

But I could not resist putting this little baby up here - A Wagner (note: not Wenger) SAK pen.

First thoughts are ....... "I like it"   :D
I really should do a review of it.

Anyone notice anything slightly unusual about this item? - Apart from the fact the whole b100dy thing is unusual/weird of course  ;)
Clue: In terms of my SAK collecting focus - I was very pleased to get this!!

I ordered a 111mm cowboy with israel flag.

http://www.zahal.org/products/israel-flag-cowboy-knife

Today was delivery day. I opened the box...

(Image removed from quote.)

... to find a climber instead ???

Not sure if I should complain about this.  It's not what I ordered but the climber is also nice. Is $ 30 (without shipping) a good deal on this climber?

I can see that you are really, really upset about getting an extra SAK......   😜

Yeah.. I keep the Climber but I still need to order the Cowboy I initially wanted  :D
Maybe this time they'll send you a Tinker.

It's probably some kind of conspiracy to get me into buying the whole set  ::)

This 91mm Tinker arrived late yesterday in red scales.

Its prior owner had heavily Crudmium plated the entire knife: scales, T&T, liners, blades, tools, springs, everything! Fortunately I had a set of black scales on hand for just such occasions. Took the scales off and gave it a complete scrub down in (hand) dish washing detergent without lemon or citrus content using a toothbrush and long nylon bristle dish scrubber to get down between the liners. Dried it off, lubed the springs and pivots, and put the new black scales on. The two blades need some polishing to get rid of the scuff marks and I've worked on the both. The large one looks pretty good now and the small one is coming along.

Why did I get this "sweat equity" Tinker? The price was right, I could tell there was a decent knife underneath, and it has the cleft chin gene that was bred out of the SAKs about 20 years ago.

This completes the family of four Tinkers with the cleft chin gene: Small, Standard (this one), Super, and Deluxe. They're all clad in black now too.
 :woohoo:

Bundled with it were a Camper with Camping logo scales, a Climber in economy nylon, and current model Minichamp without tweezers [gasp]. The missing tweezers are no problem; I have a stash of T&T for just such occasions. All have been completely Crudmium clad. Like this Tinker, there's excellent SAKs waiting to get out from under that and will be working on them as time permits. Fortunately the Camper scales don't look too bad. They're probably the only ones with any redemption value. May take a peek into the local Harbor Freight for an inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner. Could make deeper cleaning easier.

It's hard to tell from the photo - is that the Wenger Home Vasectomy or the Sheep Snipper?

How easy is that thing to open? I have a single layer Wenger (blade and combo tool) which just destroys my fingernails every time I use it...

Sometimes. Depends on what I'm looking for. In this case I knew that any SAK with a can key slot in the Phillips would be at least 20 years old. Finding a pristine one would have taken more time and effort than, and cost significantly more, than some sweat equity in this one. Sent my brother and his significant other a half dozen earlier this year. Nearly all of them were used ones fished out of deBay at low cost. Cleaned them up, polished up the blades and tools by hand, and put new scales on them. They looked new when I was done. Most current models I buy for myself are new, but a good deal is still a good deal if the work to clean it up isn't too extreme. Got a Scientist earlier this year that looked rough on the surface which drove the price way down. The pix were good enough I could see there was nothing that couldn't be cleaned up and polished with basic tools.

Unable to find used backspring phillips SAKs in euroland I finally bit the bullet and ordered two NiB small tinkers to use as mod fodder.
I will turn the tinker knives into tourists for gifts and then build a mechanic+metal file and a Compact w/o corkscrew for myself.

US ebay is so much better for used SAKs than Eurobay
