Got my first 85mm Wenger today, an EvoGrip S18. Fit and finish are great, and I like the locking blade. The springs feel a bit mushy compared to a 91mm Vic, but not compared to an 84mm. It's going to be going to work with me on Tuesday and get a nice workout.
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Sammlermesser means collector's knife, not just the Kantonsmesser are called that ;)

Believe the Battles and some other commemorative knives are also listed as Sammlermesser. The half-dozen cantons that I have are marked that on the box (no mention of Kantonmesser), which is how I have them cataloged in my spreadsheet. Probably need to recatalog them to make them easier to find.  :ahhh

Karl

I see :tu:
I've said it before and will again: you have a fantastic collection
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Thank you. I've put a lot of time and effort into it. Been messing around with SAKs for over 30 years, and seriously collecting them for over a decade; I ought to have a decent collection. It continues to be an enjoyable hobby, enhanced in large part by the people here and their friendship and wide body of knowledge. I think I learn something new every week.

You're (most probably) right. I was under the mistaken impression that only the Wenger SI had that shield and that the Vics had the familiar vic shield. I've never owned a soldier.

A quick visit to sakwiki and on to sosak put me right: http://www.sosakonline.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=70&Itemid=35

i sometimes worry about locking blades being in the uk. im scared that a police officer will take my gear for no reason. i have no good reason to be stoped (in not a criminal). but if i got stoped randomly i could loose my LM blast or wave or skele or supertool ...................

although i do carry them for a work related purpose and only carry a locking blade when travelling to and from work. you just never know.......
