I was always wondering if the tang stamp on the (1991) Victorinox M43 military dagger was the same stamp that was used on the Victorinox bayonet (Stgw 90). When I was looking at pictures on the internet, they appeared to be the same size and the same font. Well today I had both the bayonet and the Dolch sitting together on my desk. With my father-in laws trusty old Lee Dial Calipers in my hands, the measurements began. The bayonet “Victorinox” was a total length of .815 inches or 2.07 cm. The M43 dagger “Victorinox” was a total length of .631 inches or 1.60 cm’s. If you look at the pictures below, you can why I had to do the measurements. A few Swiss military (Stgw 90) bayonets and a few M43 Dolch’s had serial number stamped on the opposite side. So keep you eyes open for any of these with serial number. They are defiantly keepers.

All knives seen in the last 3-4 posts are simply gorgeous. I find the one with the panda bear a tad cuter though. (Imagine if a bayonette were cute by the way?)

All very nice.  :salute:
Got those all myself a while ago now.
You will have to check out all the Chinese new year gift sets as well.
I've got them all apart from one year now.

I picked up what appears to be a Rover with emergency blade, ruby scales w/red led and retractable pen from a local antique mall.

(Image removed from quote.)

The color is 'onyx', or translucent grey. However it turned out to not be stable, and regularly alters to a translucent tan or brown.

It could be photochromic  If you take it outside, does it get darker? That would be cool!¡!

The Onyx are simply just translucent,I have a set on a SuperTinker.

Very sexy, but sadly not photochromic

....
Yes.  I'm not sure it was a color stability issue, i've not heard any confirmed reports of them changing color, but the early onyx is that brownish color

Has any one got a knife they know has changed?

Original grey onyx (Mechanic), and altered brown onyx (Mountaineer). I'm 90% sure the Mountaineer was grey when I bought it. At least that's what is in my spread sheet.

Grey or brown, both are attractive.

Nice!  I read how this small run was actually created by some forum members they bought the knives, boxes and did the engraving, imprint, and new custom labeling themselves.  I really like that this is a home grown effort by the FCS forum members, they may be on their way to having a nice forum there.  They certainly have a few reall big SAK fans.

I bought the one on ebay by the way; shipping was a killer, but it was well packaged and arrived in good shape.  I had to clean some adhesive off the box, but given this was  more of a personal project I didn't mind.  I don't read French and using the translators while sometimes humorous is more of a pain so I won't be registering, but I wish them all the best!  I hope you'll keep us informed on the important activities there.

You are right. I'm not a standard collector. Usually, I get several pieces for my collections, then, I examine them, classify and enjoy, and process starts again. Glad to share with all of you, and expcting to learn a lot too!

I just received a Spartan Lite today.

It is nice but I wish I could get someone to replace the LED lite with a mag glass.  Then it would be more useful to me, kinda like an Explorer minus the scissors.  :D
What you are looking for is a Vic Passenger in that case, not a model we talk about much but a very nice one none-the-less. :tu:
