I really like the Forrester myself.  I also happen to prefer the two handed opening version as I found the OHO hole was just uncomfortable when using the saw.  I redressed mine in nice red scales I got from Neil, just to make it a touch more personal.

Yeah its a great SAK Gareth, I am please with mine. You need to show me a picture of your modded red scale version, does that now make yours a Rucksack  :pok:

Your wish and all that... ;)

It looks quite a lot like a Rucksack now, I admit.  The big  obvious differences are the liner-lock rather than the slide lock and the beefier, locking cap lifter/screwdriver.

Nice one Gareth, that looks very cool and you have now solved the mystery of the difference between the Forester and Rucksack other than the scales :)

No problem Colin. :)  Funnily I was just looking at a Rucksack while at the meet-up (Neil had one for sale) and I rather liked it.  The slide lock isn't quite as strong perhaps, but it's much easier to disengage one handed than the liner lock.  The cap lifter/flat driver is much more like a standard 91mm sized one and doesn't lock, but it's not bad at all.  As I already had my Forrester I couldn't justify buying one, but if I didn't then I'd have no issue buying the Rucksack.

I don't think there was ever any mystery about the Rucksack and Forester, but I do like the Forester in red for a change.  I think the Lanyard helps as well.

To me there was, I never said for all. On the pictures they look the same with the same tools with the only difference being the scales, you cannot tell from the pictures the looks are different OK.

Yeah, 111mm SAKs are pretty uncommon in shops here, and I don't think I've ever seen the two different lock system sold side-by-side, so there's not a lot of chance to compare. :-\  Here's a pic from the SAKwiki showing a slide lock;

2 Fieldmasters. One current production that is going to get Plus scales at some point, and the other is not so current. Solid awl, grooved corkscrew, scraper bevel on the bottle opener, square phillips with a file, keyring on a spacer, Victoria tang stamp- I'll post pictures once I've cleaned her up a little more, she's linty.

I'm guessing that the older one is late 60s?

I'm after the 14. on a model this size, I like to have a saw.
If you find a Ranger 13, I'll trade you a Ranger 14 for it.

A NIB SwissFlame (lighter works! Or maybe not :ahhh ):

My second RocKnife, this is an Ambassador with Andeer Granite scales:

A Grand Prix... older model than the one I already had. This one has the fine screwdriver, square Phillips, etc.:

2 Gardeners :P (They came with the Grand Prix ;) ):

I gave away my Swiss Flags Climber but I miss it, so I had to buy a new one :ahhh

my only SAK for many years was a climber, and somehow a three layer cellidor SAK has always felt right in my hands. This trail guide is a better tool outlay for me in the same size (I never use a can opener, and I like a metal file)

I'm not a smoker, I might one day change the scales, blue or something would be nice.
