Try looking at www.xe.com for the up to date conversions.  You can find out what the current cost is any time you like.

Is the point of a group buy to get things cheaper? If so how much cheaper is usual for these sort of things? Or is it convince? Or both?

Sometimes we get things cheaper, sometimes it's just to help everyone get a tool, but it's also to help support this site.  While some internet dealers only make a couple of dollars off eaach sale, we feel that it's better to have those few dollars go to support this place rather than someone outside the community.

Of course, we will always try to get folks the best deals we can.

Last call for Crucial FAST Group Buy!

Anyone who wants in on this please send me a PM by this Friday 3/25 with the quantity you want and a shipping address.  I'll reply with a total price and payment instructions.

I expect to place the group order early next week.

Side note:  I am also open to adding extra pieces to an order.  With spring arriving and outdoors season beginning, if you're looking for a tool or knife include it in your FAST PM and I'll get an estimate for you on  that too.

Thanks!

Crucial FASTs have been ordered.  Anyone who missed out on the preorder, may have a chance at one of the spares purchased for the MTO Store.

If you recall, I am not a big fan of the Crucial. The FAST isn't much better. It still has that very uncomfortable handle shape, only this time around, it is thicker. I find the sliding locking mechanism a pain to use. My fingers have slipped off of it on several occasions. More worrying, I can open the tool with that slider locked, or not. It doesn't seem to do much that I can figure out. On the plus side, the folding tools are better designed.

I am not a big fan of either to be honest...but I am sure that is due to the awful handle shapes when opened. That shape just doesn't get along with my big paws.

I think part of the problem is quality. The assisted opening blade on mine only deploys half way. I then have to finish opening the knife. I think the lock on yours goes to the point that the quality is poor.

I found that the blade didn't deploy as fast or solidly as other assisted openers, but I found it to be adequate at least.  And, on mine the lock mechanism works as it's supposed to, so I suggest if you have issues with yours then you should contact Gerber for warranty work.
