I normally don't carry Gigantor, but some times I do it for fun.
:like: My "Gigantor" has taken up residence in the kitchen. It does everything I would want a kitchen knife to do, is easy to store, and can be had for $30. You can't go wrong with the Opinel No. 12!

The engraving on the handle is way too cool! Where ever did you find that one?

Hi Farmer, I picked it up a couple of years ago. It is a special run for a company called Picture Organic Clothing. They do snowboard jackets and the like. I stumbled on it on the big auction site. Search OPINEL Picture Organic and it should come up.

And here is a pair of No. 8s. The Carbone one continues to see kitchen duty on a regular basis. The blue Inox one rode along today, just in case I had a sit-down meal.

I didn't. Lunch and dinner were both take-out deals.

I recently noticed that the Viroblocs on my Carbone No. 8s are different. The one that sees kitchen duty has two notches on top. It looks like it left the factory that way. Does anyone know, or have an idea of, when the change was made?

Whether Tomate (on the No. 2) and Deep Red would look markedly different is an easier question to answer: yes. Tomate has a noticeable orange cast.

And finally, how 'bout an Opinel family portrait? Users have their blades half open; safe queens have their blades fully extended.

I have nothing to add. Just figured I'd share a photo of my carbon #6.

Same here, just a pic of my No. 6. I simply sanded the handle to my liking.

A nice characteristic of the OPINELs is the ability to easily alter the handle to your favor.

For me, removing the top flare on the end of the handle, allows me to index the blade edge easier in low light situations.

The No6 is a favorite pocket size as well.

Another very nice picture. Thank you for sharing.

Poked an Opi in my pocket for yard work today.  It came in handy on a tough wild rose.  Anybody else have the original American honeysuckle?  Red and much less prolific than the orange Japanese invasive type.  Both are favorites of hummingbirds everywhere.
Battery on my Cub charged up (surprise!)  I think I may have to crank it later and mow some.  Assuming it cranks.  Didn't sleep well at all.  I dreamed a big bunch of my cousins came for a visit.  I kept asking which progeny of my late Uncle Jim that they belonged to and none of them would say.  One of the MTO members was there too.  Maybe Nate J.  One of my cousin's kids kept pestering my beagle and made me angry.  Of course I don't have a beagle.  I'm not sure what all that means.
Best wishes.  G

So... maybe you need a beagle?

This is the only dog that I have.  I put out some really repugnant canned (humorously referred to as tuna on the label) fish out to feed him last night.  I believe the 'dog' carried off the pseudo tuna can and I'm not sure exactly where.  Not to worry, I generally find the cans with my lawnmower.
Good news is that I did get my Cub to crank and I mowed a little and did some other yard work.  How about a photo from last night.
Best wishes.  G
