:tu: Eric that job sounds really tough mate, hope it all works out.
Worrying about the noise levels, I was a TV music composer and recording engineer in another life and my ears were my meal ticket, that’d be a nightmare

I'm a music lover myself, and I enjoy focussing on all the small details in music, the baseline, the vocal harmonies etc...  And I play the guitar as a hobby, so I would love to keep my hearing as pristine as possible...

Anyway, today was a better day, got a small raise because I got a positive evaluation, let's hope things will get better from now on.  And if not, I'm still on a temporary contract until April, so if, by then, things have not improved, maybe it's time to find something else, again...

I miss my job in the hospital (15 years...),  but the new boss there was unbearable  ::).

Went up to the Blue Mountains today, all of this was burning this time last year. Still very devastated had hoped it might have come along a bit more in recent months, some areas are still just blackened stumps, it is improving though

Very special pics John, both beautiful and eerie at the same time  :o.

Mother nature is very resilient, but she does take her time sometimes... In a couple of years that place will be back to its old glory, until then you have quite a unique scenery for some awesome pics.

The combination of the charcoal tree with the BO Wave is awesome, by the way  :tu:.

Would be great to see some pics of the same spots in the future, to see how nature recovers...  :pok:

 ;)

Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics here my friend, really appreciate it  :salute:.

Great pic Peter, looks like the water level of the lake is quite low?

Thank you guys.  :salute:

@Eric: Yes, the water level in Lungernsee is up to 40 meters lower in winter because the water flow is low and the lake is used to generate electricity. Switzerland covers 56% of its electricity needs with hydropower.

Thanks for the information  :salute:.

I knew you guys were strong on hydropower, but 56%  :o.

Once again I'm impressed by the Swiss  :tu:.

All Swiss reservoir lakes together fit around 4 billion m3 of water. A lot of renewable energy that can be easily stored.
But like all energy sources, hydropower also has its downsides....

Today we did a easy hike in our "behind the house area" with a break by the fire. Stick bread and cervelat sausages, a little black chocolate for dessert - we love it!

Nothing better than a picnic by the fire  :tu:.

Too bad an open fire is a no go over here these days, but I remember when I was a kid, back in the 80's, we used to have a campfire in the back garden every Friday evening.  Ah, the good old days...

We had a nice short walk in a small woodland area only 2 or 3 kilometers from our home as well.  I took some pics and will try to upload them tomorrow afternoon, when I get home from the morning shift.

Thanks for sharing those great pics Peter, that looked like a great time for you and your family  :tu:.

Thank you Echotech & TG

@ TG: I know, we already had the topic here, it still leaves me speechless and perplexed that you are not allowed to make a campfire.

I'm looking forward to your photos!

@Zoidberg: Beautiful pictures. A breathtaking country!
I just love mountains! Especially the view when you stand on it and can look over valleys!

@ Michael: Nice pictures. The Classic is classy anyway, but transparent green, with this background ... just fits very well.

Great pics Michael  :tu:.

And those translucant green scales are just beautiful.

What river or canal is that? (if you don't mind me asking?). We do like the background info in this topic  ;).

Thanks for sharing your pics here mate, I really appreciate it  :salute:.

Cheers gents. :tu: The SAK is actually a Signature Light. It's still going strong after 21/22 years. 8)

The river is the River Ribble. It starts near the Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire and flows through Lancashire and into the Irish Sea. This stretch is in my home city of Preston, which it flows through quite a bit of. It's also the border between Preston (where I'm stood) and the town of Penwortham, which is what you can see on the other side. I do a regular loop walk in a morning, so I cross over the river and back twice at two different points. If the weather's right it can be spectacular. If it's not it's just grey. :D

Thanks for the guided tour Michael  :tu:.

That's the stuff we like to read here (well, I can only speak for myself, but I'm guessing the regulars here enjoy such background information as well).

It's always nice to visit other people's home town in Google earth, since we can't go on vacation in real life for now  ;).

Thanks for sharing mate, if you feel like posting more, go nuts  ;).

I know I promised to post some pics of our short hike a couple of days ago, but it's been a very busy week.  I do hope to find some time this weekend to post them here.

Greetings from Belgium,

Eric

No problem at all. :tu: I do the same - if I see somewhere new someone lives, or even if I get a package from somewhere abroad, I'm always nosey and have a look at it on Google Maps.

Not had chance for any outdoor pics over the last couple of days, but I'll definitely update when I can. Complete with description. :)
